Sounds to me like they're medicating him for pain, and waiting on the MRI results.

Cue the Jeopardy theme.

Now, now... T-Mac was out eight games last time, and preliminary reports suggest he might not be out nearly that long this time around. Even if he does miss eight games, that's eight out of fifty. A bruising loss, but not quite the entire season.

Still, I'm not buying any playoff champagne just yet... but the season is hardly over.

Well its really interesting in this case because Phenergan is mostly used to treat allergies and for sedation for presurgical and post surgical procedures to control nausea and vomiting!! so i really hope this does not mean he underwent any type of surgical procedure...Morphine makes alot more sense to me because its almost only used to relieve pain (anywhere in the body) and we all know how much pain T-Mac looked to be in tonight.

Hey I will be the first to admit that I gave up on the Astros last season..... And we all know what happened there. I wont make that mistake for my sports teams ever again.

Dont put the nail in the coffin yet guys. We still have alot of ball yet to play in this season. Have faith in Gundy....

Stick by your team!

The use of phenergan isn't limited to post or pre surgical procedures. It's simply given at any time to control nausea, and great pain generally induces nausea.

I'm a big "glass half full" guy, but this is starting to remind me of Francis' rookie season where Barkley and Dream were out all year.

I'm still going to watch every game and root for them to get it going but, if TMac is out for at least a couple of weeks, you have to admit we are in big, BIG trouble.

Agree with 1-3. I might add that perhaps we should give some minutes to our possible trade baits to make them look presentable.

Can't say I agree with 4, though. I don't want to "tank" the season just to get a high draft pick. Our franchise players will come back and play together for at least the last 20-25 game of the season. We can still make the playoffs. As long as we don't ride yao or Mcgrady for 40+ minutes every night, it'll be all good.

Yeah, I'm normally the big optimist but.....i don't know about this season.

The Astros were sucking as a team, not because of injuries. They took some time to get it all together and going (hitting).

But as for the Rockets.....man, they aren't getting a chance! :(

this is les alexanders quote on espn that might be good news

"The doctor told me he thinks it's a bad back spasm and hopefully, he'll be OK," Alexander said. "He doesn't think it's anything serious that will keep him out for a long time."

hopefully hes not out for long.....

Danmit all to hell.. We cant catch a break this season  I hope we hold Tracy out for more games than he needs... Anyone else remember JVG talking about Tracy being in a revolving door this year if he comes back too early from his back problems the last time he was out?? Looks like JVG was totally right..

Astros pass on Clements option
Yao has surgery
McGrady goes down
Texans pass on V Young

This could be a banner year for Houston Sport fans.

Rockets owners Leslie Alexander said last night that doctors are saying Tracy McGrady's latest back injury would not keep him out as long as the eight games (all losses) he missed with a strained back earlier this season.

Back spasm don't require surgery, but a herniated disk do. In some people, mostly middle-aged adults, a disk's tough outer shell develops an area of weakness or a small tear. When this happens, part of the disk's soft inner core can bulge out of its normal position (herniate), producing a condition called a herniated disk.If the herniated disk presses on nerves in the nearby spinal canal, this can cause variety of nerve-related symptoms, including pain, numbness and muscle weakness. Individual risk factors — You may be at increased risk of a herniated disk if you work at a job or participate in a sport that involves heavy lifting or excessive twisting or bending.

Herniated disks are most common in the lumbar region(between the vertebrae in the lower back, above the pelvis ). Many people suffer from years of intermittent and mild lower back pain before a single triggering event (heavy lifting, sudden bending, abrupt twisting) aggravates their symptoms to the point that they seek medical attention. This pain is called sciatica because it comes from pressure on the sciatic nerve. It usually begins in the lower back, then spreads into the buttocks and down the back of one thigh and leg. Sciatica typically becomes worse if the patient coughs, sneezes, bears down or moves the back abruptly(Tmac's jumper).

Treatment-In most cases, a herniated disk (with or without sciatica) will respond to conservative treatment.Because prolonged inactivity can promote deconditioning, your doctor may suggest that you start an exercise regimen early. Even if you begin your treatment with one to two days of bed rest, you may still be asked to complete two or three 20-minute periods of walking each day. After one to two weeks, you usually can begin a more strenuous program of daily aerobic exercises (walking, biking, swimming) and physical therapy. if you have evidence of progressive nerve damage, more aggressive treatment may be needed, including surgery. In most cases, this means removing the disk (diskectomy), which may require major surgery. Increasingly, though, a less invasive operation is performed in which the herniated disk is removed through a hollow tube inserted through a tiny incision. Surgery also may be recommended for people who have persistent, disabling pain that does not respond to at least six to eight weeks of conservative therapy.

About 60% of people respond to conservative therapy within one week, and 90% to 98% respond within 6 weeks. Surgical intervention has a high success rate when an MRI or CT demonstrates that the cause of the symptoms can be corrected.

This sucks...You think our offense sucked b/f, just wait...

If we can just hold it together and make a run for the 8th spot, we might have a chance once everyone gets back healthy...
