If the Rockets commit themselves to spreading the floor as much as possible so that Tracy and Yao have room to work, Novak has a shot at starting. He's our best shooter.
I'm not behind the idea too much of Novak starting but ANYTHING to limit Juwan's minutes is fine with me.
He plays the same position as Tracy. I doubt he can guard starting 2's or 4's at this point in his career. He may grow into being a 4 later in his career.
Novak has zero chance of starting until he shows some competence on the defensive end. He's not strong; he's not quick; he's a foul machine and that was in summer league. Other teams will attack him relentlessly. Shooting is great but, at best, he will never be a high volume shooter on offense. But he WILL be a high volume defender as other teams paint a bullseye on him. We are all hopeful on Novak, V-Span, etc but we should try to keep realistic expectations on the impact the new guys will have this season, especially early.
