Tmac usually dishes out the second most assists each game
We don't win 22 in a row last year w/o Tmac running the motion offense
sometimes, he can be a ball stopper, but not usually

He was a ball stopper against the Knicks. Him an Artest just shut down the motion offense. Everybody saw the same thing, including Feigen and Blinebury at the Houston Chronicle. Go read the Chronicle articles for a 3rd person viewpoint.

McGrady is fine with this offense. I swear we had these same asinine complaints before the 22-game streak last year, also...

Forget about last year. It's 2009 and McGrady isn't the same player. Apparently whatever he learned during the 22 game streak is long forgotten.

    exactly.

we also have to keep in mind that last year's t-mac was significantly better than this years, but as far as game style, t-mac has proven he can fit.

The truth is T-Mac curbed a lot of his bad habits for the 22 game streak. Then they came back with a fury in the playoff series with Utah and they've never gone away again.

I seriously question the Bball IQ of Tmac and Artest. I see a very willing Artest who wants to play D. However, the shot selection in the 4th qtr is horrible. They fell like they need to shoot everytime. I watched Kobe last night drive and pass to Fisher for a 3 to send the game into OT. Never happens with Ron or Tmac, they would rather force a 3.

I don't agree. T-Mac has made some key passes past few seasons, actually a lot.

I would say the exact opposite, T-mac will pass for a 3, and kobe will force it...One game means nothing

Umm where were you during the winning streak last year. Remember when t-mac drove on artest and passed back to Novak and left the game in his hands...

And when t-mac was being doubled by kobe and lamar in LA last year and he gave the ball up to battier would hit the go ahead 3?

in case yall didnt notice, john hollinger (who is adored on this board) said t-mac had 1 of his worst stretches statistically during that 22 game winstreak. we won 22 games because rafer, battier, and mutombo were all playing out of their minds. we won IN SPITE of t-mac.

It looks good when your convert rate is high, but not when it's low like Tmac.

    I would temper that statement.

I do agree the "Mcgrady carried us for 22" lines are so overblown, it's grating. However, we weren't winning "in spite" of McGrady. He played with enthusiasm for most of those games (he did shut it down toward the end), he did not hog the ball, he facilitated the offense nicely, he played (for him) above average defense. In short, he sacrificed his game in deference to the team. And the team thrived.

When he gets into "I'm the star" mode, that when we get the crummy basketball that we saw Monday.

[Rockets.com] Rockets Eager To Get Offense Back On Track

Rockets Eager To Get Offense Back On Track
Rockets vs. 76ers, 7:30 PM, FSNHOU

Alston insists those days are over.

“That’s not going to continue. We’re going to move the ball. We have plays and sets that are going to move the ball. I’m going to move. Tracy’s going to move. Ron’s going to move. Yao’s going to move. Shane’s going to move. We understand what we’re going to do. I know these guys and myself will come out with the idea that, ‘Hey, let’s move, let’s get up and down, and let’s do what we need to do to win the game.’”

“I think it’s been bugging the team. I know you guys aren’t blind to it. You see what goes on during the course of the season. I know you guys have seen us play a brand of basketball that works for us and other games you’ve seen us play a style that’s not cut out for us. We have to stay away from that and play together.

“We’re professionals. I have to tell me kids things over and over again. But they’re young. When you’re our age and you have to keep repeating things over and over again then, to a man, you have to decide: Are you going to do this, or are you not?”

I really really wish I could hear these quotes from Ron and Tracy.

That Jason article deserves it's own thread.

I'll believe it when I see it. There have been so many articles about things changing on this team and they all pretty much have remained the same.
