I'm big on both dmo and jones, the one against the other mentality bothers me around here, that said I've been an advocate for starting jones for dmo for balance as I didn't think jones and smith could play small ball 4-5 together. I still feel that way but Dallas don't have legit backup bigs
Welcome back Jones, I think we forgot he JUST turned 23 a few days ago. Getting that grown man body now.
Our bench, which was once thought to be our Achilles' heel, is turning out to be quite deep... Love it..
Also he's probably still learning to play as a big man since he grew up as a guard. Was even recruited to college as a guard. Great to see him back.
JT's play last night was just nothing short of spectacular. But I will still hold my breath to the bold part when it comes to defense. I will let time tell.
Agree - very stupid. Their post game crew/show is awful. They had such a negative tone and it was also mentioned that they are sad because last night's game was supposed to bring them good memories. Lmao
It was in TJ's mind. Several times McHale talked about this in post-game interviews. Living under a rock? Two months ago Jones was worried his basketball career might be over. http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...ing-again-after-wondering-if-career-was-over/
TJ's return last night was great. And with Howard out it was perfect timing. Any frontline help we can get is very welcome. I think usually with things like this the first game back is usually really good, and then there is a little dip afterwards before the level rises again. Either way I don't see the point in the fans who were badmouthing Jones while he was out, or feel they only have enough adoration as fans to root for DMo or TJ. Why not cheer for both guys and be happy they've both helped the team. When TJ was starting for the Rockets at the beginning of the year, they were playing really well. DMo has come in and stepped up his post game and shown that he's a viable offensive option. Both things are good for the Rockets and should bring fans joy. No need to badmouth one in an effort to somehow raise opinion for the other. Both guys have strengths and weaknesses. The better both of them play the better for the Rockets. We have room for both of these guys.
I think Jones is like a secret weapon for us. NOBODY in the league talks about this guy, nor do they expect him to have an impact for the Rockets. The Mavs announcers last night NEVER mentioned anything about him during the entire game.
Really happy to see him back in the line-up. He's a solid and reliable and you know he'll work on the court.
I'm so conflicted about his being injured. He was looking really strong to start the season just before his injury (25-10 game before he got hurt)... How good would he be now if it hadn't happened? On the other hand you most certainly would not have gotten the development and confidence out of dmo you have now. Hopefully he comes back fully, hungry for his starter job and we just get the win-win with a suddenly deep front court.
I am among all those who were delighted to see T-Jo back and performing so well. He really looked gassed in the first few minutes when he entered the game, but he seemed to get his wind back the longer he played.
Wrong. His career was definitely in jeopardy. The Rockets were just hush hush on the matter. McHale when on 790 either yesterday or Tuesday, can't rememeber, said as much. Apparently there was major concern that Jones would ever be right again, let alone play basketball.
McHale on 790 right now. Just said the Doctors told Jones "if the feeling comes back in your foot" there was a lot of ifs. So to the jackhole that called me an alarmist and said calm down through rep, be big enough to leave your name. What I stated was fact.
