I bet he stays, just because he knows the system.

If we draft a QB in the first, then obviously Case has a good chance of being moved. Moving Yates into the num 2 spot isn't a bad idea

I don't see a reason to to keep Yates on the roster past this season. Yates opened up as the backup QB, but then gets passed up by Keenum after Schaub goes down. So now Yates sits as 3rd on the depth chart.

The Texans are going to draft a QB regardless of how Keenum finishes up the season. It may not be a high pick, but there will be a new QB on the roster. So now you have Keenum and a rookie QB as 1 & 2 on the depth chart after you cut Schaub. At that point, the team may also look to sign a veteran QB to the roster. Where does that leave Yates? More than likely, catching on as Washington's 3rd string QB.

Yates is gone, and Schaub stays as the backup or 3rd string QB.

I really dont see the texans drafting a QB in the 1st round, and its unlikely they do in the 2nd round.

You're gonna pay Schaub $14.5M to be your backup or 3rd string? You'd create dead money by cutting him but you'd still save $4M.

Schaub wont be around making 15 million next season especially when he can be cut a save about 4.5 million against the cap,

I dont think so, Case will play all the games now, so two things have to happen to see Yates:

    1)Case gets hurt
    2) Schaub needs to be inactive, so Yates can be the backup QB, but I dont think that will happen.

The only QB on the current roster that will be here next season is Keenum.

Schaub will be cut because of his contract and steep decline and Yates will be gone as well due to his regression and inability to push for playing time.

There will be a QB drafted next season and I can nearly guarantee them bringing in a vet to help mold and teach both the rook and Case. But it also won't be someone that will threaten for the starting job. That should be a competition between Case and the rook only.
