Wouldn't you leave if you were Ford? His draft position won't get any higher no matter what he does because of his height. He should have never said he would come back though. He's backing out on his word. Not good. A player like Ford can't be replaced.
Yep, they are close friends, and Roy is a huge UT basketball fan. Remember, Roy would have been #3 overall to the Texans in this year's draft if he went pro. If he stayed for his senior season, I'm sure he'd be disappointed to see TJ go out after his sophomore year. TJ could start in the NBA immediately, and average about 7 assists a game. But his poor shooting skills will allow defenses to sag off him. He's got a ways to go, but imagine how badass he could be if he stays 4 years.
I guess there's not as much prestige and cache with staying for you Junior year as their is in staying for your final year of eligibility.
F***, I get tired of hearing people whine like beeyotches about what these player's owe them. Are you going to pay TJ 3 million dollars next year. What's it to you. Did you even go to U.T. These college students don't owe RM95 jack squat.
They don't owe anything to me, it just annoys me to hear a player say that they're 110% sure they're coming back, then don't come back. I guess if his four senior teammates don't have a problem with it, I shouldn't.
Same here. Roy interviewed TJ for a clip on the Texas sports website, and if I remember correctly TJ said something like 'I'll be back just like you came back for your senior season'.
Okay, I understand being annoyed, its fustrating no doubt, still we're talking about kids, and the with the amount of money out there, there are no guarantees.
I know what you are saying, but its still stupid. People get mad when players or coaches, either say something and then change, or don't say anything. The fact is, it is no where in THEIR best interest to say their leaving, coach or player. Everyone get's fustrated when they are ambiguous. So you know what, they might as well lie.
Okay, so a 20 year old kid doesn't have the right to change his mind without pissing off his fans? I'll cheer for TJ no matter where he plays. He and Coach Barnes put UT back on the map. We should be glad he even came here in the first place. He chose Texas over Duke, UNC, Indiana, and just about every other school in the nation.
DV, I have one question to ask you. Why would Ford go from this: "I am 110 percent staying" to this: "It's a possibility......Until I make a decision, I'm still at the University of Texas" if he is staying?
Catch him here as ChrisforHeisman http://forums.hornfans.com/php/wwwt...=basketball&Number=1631871&page=&view=&sb=&o= Starts off good then people start to attack him and he ends up apologizing. Dejav Vu?
I don't know, he is considering it, I'm sure. But he will not leave unless UT is in good hands without him. Just look at how he revers coach Barnes and his teammates. That is why I won't believe it till I see it.
I am with DD, he needs to develop a jump shot first. I love him as a college player, but I would not spend a low lotto, or maybe any lotto, on TJ Ford right now. When you are that small you have to be lightening quick and a dead eye (Calvin, Archibald, Damon Stoudemire)--TJ only has 1 right now. I take Rinour, Hinrich, maybe even Marcus Moore before I'd take TJ as a pro PG prospect right now. I think he stays and works on his J--I think it may come down to who he listens too and his family situation.
