Some of you have questioned TJ's height and that he's all offense and average on defense. What would be his negatives on defense? His size has nearly nothing to do with how he will perform on defense. Sure, a jumper over the top of him, but that is a pretty hefty task in itself. Have you see this kids verticle? And to get a shot off you have to be able to get the ball up the court. TJ plays "in your face", and there's nothing week about his defense. As for the differnce in height between Francis, Mobley and TJ, in this case size doesn't matter in regard to defense. He's exactly what this team needs, a guy directing everything on the court. It's scary to think about Francis and TJ breaking snapping ankles all over the court.

Not to mention that our DEFENSE was not the problem it was turnovers and horrid offensive shooting.

TJ helps in both those areas...

    1. He makes much smarter decisions than our current cast of PGs
    2. He will set up better shots for his teamates making them more effective.

TJ Ford will be an all star player and a game changer, and there are very few of them around.

Did you happen to see any other team getting inside that zone? It's called long arms, and no room to go. There is a reason that zone got them the national title... nobody could break it. I'm not worried about his jumper at all. I'm sure that in high school he spent most of the time driving to the rack, he sure did that when he was in Austin for the HS State playoffs. Give him a little time to develop that shot....I could care less if he can shoot from the out side. I need a PG that can drive, dish and play good defense, and TJ brings all that.

Lets not forget TJ's turnover 3.3..wow he really does help turn over the ball

And to think, he wasn't going to compliment this team..heck he fits in just fine...:(

I've got an answer for you:

    Player 4:

    FG% - .454
    AST - 10.9
    STL - 1.56

Answer: Andre Miller (Ok his last season in Cleveland)

TJ may be a stud, but for the Rockets, he's unattainable. Not having a pick this year, seriously kills our chances. Name a top-10 team that trades for a Griffin/Mobley package. Few if any have traded a top 10 pick for anything less than a superb young talented player. Griffin (as much as I like the kid) and Mobley qualify as neither, well perhaps one of the three criteria for each (Mobley- talented, Griffin - young). I don't recall many top 10 picks traded for vets, other than Chandler which cost the bulls Elton Frickin' Brand. We (I guess you all) can dreamcast about bringing TJ to the Rox, but it's conjecture...Andre Miller actually could be had by the Rox and he's put up big numbers in the L already. I'm sure we'd hear the same old garbage about Francis and Miller would get killed :)rolleyes:). (If there's a rolly eyed smilie then I'm pretty pleased with myself...if there's not a smilie, then I'm the computer idiot that I thought all along.)

what do those numbers have to do with dadakota's supposed genius? stls wasn't necessary b/c dd said D wasn't the problem. DD said he would improve our shooting, so you showed us that he's a bad shooter, very poor for a guard, and that's taking into account all the times he just blew by college level talent and got layups. yes his assists show he is a better distributor.

and Ben Lusky, he did not take a team of washups to the final 4. he took the deepest team in the country (especially up front) to the final 4, a little difference.

i'm still not sure what to think. on D, he could get posted up, but points aren't great at posting. and then his speed will make it hard to burn him. plus his size could make defenders wary of bumping into him too hard for fear of getting an offensive foul (like many people are with boykins). plus all that speed could be great for jumping the passing lanes a la iverson. on O. people could just back way off of him (especially using a bigger player and zoning up) and force him to shoot. if he doesn't learn how, that's a big liability. his speed is incredible so he will still be able to penetrate sometimes (and if you don't do the above, he'll penetrate every time). his court vision is incredible, but could be useless if we don't have this thing called movement added to the offense. w/o movement that could be seriously negated. he will know how to run a fast break, he was amazing on it in his years here. incredible passes all over on the break. he could be exactly what we need to free up steve and run a complicated offense and lead our break. he could also prove a poor option in a halfcourt setting (hint hint playoffs) where he is more forced to shoot like people make jkidd. i think he would definitely be a positive addition to the team, i'm just not sure how much i'm giving up to get him.

Yeah, but let's be serious, we don't need to give up EG, Cat, and a future first rounder for a hopefully good in the future pt. guard. And who's gonna trade a top 10 pick to us this year for a player that you're all saying is gonna get us to the playoffs? Our 1st round next year pick would be worthless.

Even if you could trade for TJ Ford, I don't know that we should. I'd love to have a Houston boy on the team; trade for Rashard; get the All-Houston Rockets (except Yao)....but we need to move forward, not back. Would TJ have a great first year like Steve did? And who would we trade anyway to get him, because it would take a top 5 pick.

Do you suggest we should get T-Mac? Then for sure, the Rockets wouldn't have to adjust.

This is the player that we wanted Steve Francis to be. Dakota has his finger on the Rox pulse and from what I have observed yesterday on the TV, he is just what the Doctor ordered for the Future Rockets!! It would behoove the Rockets to move Heaven and Earth to get a position in the Draft.

What idiot in their right mind would trade a top 5 lottery pick for 2 one-dimensional players like Griffin & Mobley? People WAKE UP!!!

This type of speculation is pointless. Pigs will fly before something like this occurs. Accept the fact that the Rockets have screwed themselves and will have to deal with it to the best of their ability. There are NO free rides!

I live in Austin and I'm a huge Rockets fan, have been for years. After watching TJ play for the last 2 years at UT, I've gotta say that he is exactly what the Rockets need. Ever notice that the Rockets would go through long stretches in games where they wouldn't move the ball around efficiently? It was only when they did move the ball well that they played to their potential. TJ is an incredible point guard who think pass first, pass second, and only shoots the ball when good opportunities come to him. He lets the game come to him. He plays great defense and is extremely quick to the ball. He also gets the ball down court in a heartbeat and always dishes it off at the perfect time. The Rockets need TJ because he is a natural leader with the drive and determination that it takes to be great. He'll find Yao all day for easy buckets and will run the break better than anyone else around, giving his teammates great opportunities to score all game, every game. Although TJ needs to work on his jumper, he never has an off night with his passing. He would make the Rockets a contender in his first year.

    I'd like one of these....

Ford would be great too.......if he's our 2nd round pick.

I wouldn't trade anybody on our team for him except Moochie right now.

Oh Jeez. So, TJ Ford is going to make the Rockets a championship contender in his first season? Has a rookie guard ever done this before? Or is TJ Ford just the best, NBA-ready, rookie guard to ever come out of college?
