I'd much rather have Luke Ridnour from Oregon than TJ Ford

TJ Ford is exactly who we need.

Why would we not trade Cat for him? Are you kidding me?

Cat is an above average one dimensional player.

TJ Ford can distribute the ball, run the break, and has super quick reflexes. What he lacks in height, he makes up with great defensive intensity and speed.

He plays fast and under control.

    He makes his teammates better.

This is exactly who we need.

Even though I wouldn't mind having him........

    we probably won't get him.

I wouldn't want to make a trade to get him either.

BUT ONE THING EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW.

    SIZE DOES NOT MATTER!!

Tall...short....is not a factor of your skill.

    Although there is are advantages...

    Anyways.....ENOUGH WITH THE RAMBLING.

    BGM,

The only thing TJ has in common with AJ is the fact both came into the league with poor shooting touch. TJ is quicker, has better court vision, and is a much better passer than Avery Johnson.

If the rockets could get TJ for a price that doesn't include Steve or Yao, I would be thrilled.

For Chrissakes folks! TJ Ford is only 5' 8'' tall. He has a congenital spinal condition and he CAN"T SHOOT! We already have a roster full of players with limitations so why should we want to pick up another one? TJ is a fantastic college guard but in the NBA he'll be overmatched playing against the larger point guards in the West. I'm afraid that TJ will be this year's version of Bobby Hurley.

    Hillboy,

Doubt TJ all you want. He has the winners mentality, he is an excellent floor general who is one of the quickest players in the world. He also works really hard on his game and in a few years his J will be solid. He also is about 6 feet tall not 5'8.

I had the privilege of watching him play at UT and he is the real deal. He is special, and while you pick someone else and toil in mediocrity, I'll take TJ and be one step closer to winning it all.

TJ Ford is not better than Jay Williams!

Is Jay Williams a bust? I highly doubt it, I still believe he will become a great player.

Yes, he is probably the fastest point guard out right now and he has great passing skills. However, he has not seen the defense of the NBA just yet. Jay Williams was better in almost every aspect except for maybe the speed and has less spectacular passing skills.

Syracuse played like 10 ft off TJ cause they knew he couldn't shoot worth jack.

His upside is Damon Stoudamire with less of a shooting touch.

Because TJ would bring something to the team that no other Rockets guard has. Basketball IQ.

What was our biggest problem this past year? Execution.

We consistently lolly gagged our way up the court as if we had nothing better to do than to run out the shot clock. TJ instantly fixes that.

Our guards dominated the ball way too much dribbling out the 24-second clock while we were in our half court offense. TJ instantly fixes that.

We turned the ball over way too many times during pivotal points of the game losing offensive possessions when we could not afford to lose them. TJ instantly fixes that.

Our guards spent possession after possession unable to find the open man and finally settling on a prayer of a shot or just driving headfirst into the lane hopping for a bail out call. TJ instantly fixes that.

Out team ran the worst fast break in the league often times losing the ball on 3 on 1 fast breaks. TJ instantly fixes that.

Our guards constantly missed getting the ball to Yao Ming in prime position close to the basket, instead they hesitated until Yao Ming had been pushed 10 feet or beyond away from the basket before getting him the ball. TJ instantly fixes that.

If a player got hot he was only allowed to continue shooting the ball until the guard bringing the ball up the court felt like it was his turn to get some points and then the player that was hot doesn't get another touch for 10 minutes. TJ instantly fixes that.

While TJ would likely have some problems on defense there are also things he would do better than Steve Francis. If anyone watched TJ play this year then they know that he plays aggressive defense on the ball and gets a lot of steals. Teams would be able to post him up and even shoot over him but they would have a hard time driving past him. If we keep Posey next year then I would think that he and TJ would be 1 and 2 on the team for steals.

TJ would be great for the rox. His strengths are exactly what the rox are lacking in:

    -running the fastbreak
    -taking care of the ball
-setting up other players to be successful

yes, he has his weaknesses, but his strengths would make this a better TEAM.

Unfortunately, I think giving up more than Mobes would be losing trade for the rox, unless they got a good big man back for tossing in Griff/cato.

I'd even want to keep Posey, cuz he would be awesome with TJ pushing the ball.

dont forget more passing = more shot selections

more shot selections = more points

more points over the defense = more wins

more wins = more rings :D

You guys make me laugh :D.

No wonder the Rockets cann't make the playoffs. If you fans believe TJ Ford is going to be an impact player in the NBA you guys have better be joking.

I don't care what team Ford get on..he is a bench player at best. He won't be able to get his shot off nor will his dribble penetration work in the NBA.

You have to remember Ford has high shooting percentage cause he take the ball to the hole for lay ups. That isn't going to work in the NBA for him. He also accumulates 3.2 turnovers a game which is almost as many as Francis racks up.

    * Here are Ford's "Per game" stats

    Points = 15
    Turn overs = 3.2
    Assists = 7.6
    Shoting Percentage = 40%
    points per shot = 1.246

I have this nagging feeling that TJ is gonna be a flop in the NBA, regardless of what team he's on. We don't need that.

Oh yeah, and what makes you think that? would anyone have thought that jay williams was going to stink it up in his 1st year? could anyone imagine the sort of rookie seasons yao ming and amare stoudemire had? i sure didn't. there is one thing that scouts and box scores or measurements show: DETERMINATION AND PERSERVERANCE!!! Not to mention focus, and a desire to win.

Drop the stat sheets morons. You can't measure T.J. Ford's potential based onstats. He's just not that kind of player. I mean if all people looked at were stats, how in the hell did T.J. Ford sweep every college player of the year award there was? I'll tell you why many people who have seen T.J. play are saying he's for real. Because his desire to win is more than any player he has come up against. Not only is he a rare point guard that looks to make his teammates better before looking for his own shot, he is one of those rare players who's will to win and killer extinct drive him to succeed no matter what is thrown at him. I can see a lot of you will never be convinced until you see it for yourself. This player will be a star in the NBA and will be appreciated for his work ethic and leadership.
