The Rockets cut their best backup point guard at the beginning of the regular season. Tierre Brown was our second best point guard in the preseason -- better than Moochie and definitely better than Tito. The Rockets should be call up Brown from the NBDL to handle the backup point guard duties.
Did you see who Tito was playing against? So he's better than the Mavs 3rd stringer, Avery Johnson? Nash would have made him cry. Van Exel too.
I would laugh, but I saw Tito playing in the summer leagues against inferior talent. He sucked. Moochie happens to suck against NBA talent! I submit my proof : http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID007.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID008.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID027.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID031.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID044.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID047.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID055.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID073.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID074.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID102.MOV http://www.drofdunk.com/SPL2002/SPL2002VID106.MOV
He played great. Good job in the garbage minuutes. I was really impressed. He kinda reminded me of....................Tierre Brown.
I love Tito Maddox probably more than most of you guys on this forum and I have been praising him about his talent since the summer but I will also be the first to agree with DoD's first comments. What I like about Tito - he looks to get down court as quick as possible for easy fast break points on offense, very natural passer, pass first type PG, loves to drive in and kick out, very good at drawing the double team and passing to the open player, good finisher in traffic, good size at 6'4, can play both G positions, good rebounder for a G, very good one on one defender(not going to get many steals but good at applying his body close to opposing Gs making it hard to get a shot off), good at applying full court pressure on opposing player, hussles and never quits to get his body back on his man when picked off or beaten whether the player has the ball or not. What Tito needs to improve - His dribbling and handling(gets too many turnovers esp. traveling), his shooting(can't hit anything outside of 5ft), his mental toughness(looses confidence when he makes mistakes on offense), needs to play under control(trys to do too much at times). He's got pure PG talent in passing and finding open players, but he's just like the rest of our young guys, he's just not ready to play many mins and he's more inconsistent than not. Remember just like Griffin, Tito has only played one year in college which he did avg. 8 asts to lead all freshman before leaving for the NBA. But he's still only 21 years old and will be at the end of the season. To be honest this is what I was expecting for him for the season, about 10-20 games this year and 5-8 mins per game to watch and learn. But he should be a very decent role player in a couple of seasons IMO. I think Tito would have been better off in college as some scouts predicted him to be a late lottery pick and he might of improved that with more experience, but then it's good we got him for the future. With Griffin, Yao, Maddox and Nachbar all under 22 years of age we are one heck of a young team with major talent and potential for years to come.
It's worth a try. The defense at the point guard position needs some serious help. Moochie is atrocious. Steve is terrible. Yao is not quick or mobile enough to erase their mistakes. If Tito can help out in that area then give him some playing time. If he’s out of control, Rudy should just tell him to dribble the ball up court and dump it in to Yao every time. Nothing else.
What Mooch brings on the offensive end (which isn't even that much) doesn't even come close to making up for his ineptitude on the defensive end. That Mooch/Van Exel matchup killed us last night.
Tito did look good in a short amount of time last night but remeber that there is a reason this guy lasted until the 2nd round. He shot only .39% from the field his last year in college. He's an athletic project with some talent but if he got any real minutes right now he would hurt the rockets more than help them.
strange...just replace tito's name in this post with moochie's and you have the same person. Minus the 'what you like about him' part anyways. Seriously, Tito's defense and willingness to quickly get rid of the ball(not with 3 secs. left on the clock) outweigh any fault he might have compared to moochie. Tito doesn't shoot well? Oh, and Moochie does? cmon! Moochie plays absolutely no defense...its pathetic, you can see the opposing offense attack moochie nearly everytime he's on the floor...then he turns around and screws up our offense with his 20 second dribbling. Moochie use to really penetrate and pass well, but he doesn't look to do any of that anymore. I guess he's just content with kicking back and enjoying all the hair products he can buy with that fat contract the Rox gave him.
Two new addtions that that play within their ablities are Hawkings and Posey. They have really helped the Rox. Moochie is above his head. Francis is good enought to score (get his), but not good enough to lead the team. At least, so far.
