A stat I found interesting from VY's victory over the Colts...

    9 carries for 78 yards

7 of his 9 runs were on 3rd down and got first downs. He ran for 8 first downs overall.

That kind of playmaking is what wins football games! And I don't want to hear "oh yeah but what did he do in the passing game" because he threw 2 very clutch touchdown passes. Dude is a winner...period.

Every franchise has to start sometime. For our children, the Texans will be their childhood team that (hopefully) wins it all during their lifetime--hopefully a handful of times. And, hopefully, before they move out!!

i hear ya. but this is the difference. this is why it's like this. these aren't people running out on the 'stros or rockets. these are people who weren't captured to begin with. a few of them, like me, who even owned Texans season tickets for a while.

I am in that list, no? :D
You just described last year's Titans and this year's, with the exception of the Redskins' and Giants' game.

Because I see it as the Texans picking up where the Oilers left off. I would feel like you if the Texans were the first pro football team in Houston. I will pull for Houston's NFL team, I don't really care what it's called or who the owner is. It's all the same for me.

Houston's NFL history stopped when the Oilers left, then picked back up when the Texans got here. For me, it's all part of one team's history. The Houston NFL team's history. It's all the same.

huh. i don't see it that way. the two franchises are so drastically different. i would feel that way if they retained colors and logos, i'm sure. but mcnair was so purposeful with distancing himself from those and that identity, i don't equate the 2 at all.

And, his mistakes will diminish as he plays more.....someone on 3rd down that is a dual threat is priceless.....

    Well.....I do.

If you ever get divorced (I hope you dont, btw ;) ) and remarried, I would feel sorry for your new wife.

I know a lot of people disagree with the ex-wife/girlfriend comparison, but that's exactly how I see it. If my wife/girlfriend leaves me for another guy, I'm not going to send her a Christmas card every year telling her how much I used to love her. I'm not going to carry her picture in my wallet.

I'm with Max on this one, bro.

The Oilers *died*. The example you gave doesn't really follow. If your wife dies or leaves and you re-marry, it's *not* like you picked up the same marriage again! Everything is *new* and *different*. WILDLY different.

There is nothing about the Texans that is similar to the Oilers except the name of the city in which they play (which happens to be the greatest city in the world!).

Max is right--they have to earn their fanbase. After 40 years, there will be some history and some life-long diehards. Until then, building the fanbase is going to be tough. And, they haven't done much to help themselves (even though people like you and I are on board just because their jerseys say, "Houston" on them).

I agree, that's why passing on Vince and Reggie to a lesser extent completly befuddled me. With Vince especially they could have galvanized that fanbase instantly.

They took a gamble on Carr and Mario. Mario's working out; Carr has backfired on them.

Just wanted to clarify my stats. 9 carries for 78 yards but NFL.com officially has VY down for ONLY 7 rushing 1st downs and not 8. 6 of them were 3rd down runs. Man he sucks.

The toucdown drives were very impressive. Led them on a touchdown drive right before halftime with 31 seconds remaining. When is the last time we scored an offensive touchdown in the 2 minute drill right before the half? At best we would have gotten a field goal attempt in that situation. The 2nd touchdown was a 95 yard 11 play effort in the 4th quarter that gave them a 17-14 lead. The more I look at the numbers the more pissed I get. I mean, look at his supporting cast. We have been crying for years that Carr needs people around him to make plays and VY is doing it with a WR corps so bad that they had to put Pacman Jones in there yesterday. This guy is a freaking rookie and he is leading his team to victories and touchdowns in clutch situations game after game already while we are 5 years and still waiting on even one wow moment from DC that would make you say "yeah he is the guy...he can be special". We won't even talk about what VY did last week against the Giants.

I know this is impossible but what if for some reason we could have the 1st pick both of those years and we just switched those picks from Carr to Julius Peppers and Mario Williams to Vince Young. Still have our defensive lineman and quarterback. Hey...I can dream can't I? Let me have this moment! ;)

Damn...cold hard reality just hit me in the face like a punch from Mike Tyson and trust me when I tell you that it hurt like hell. :(

No doubt baby....LUV YA BLUE! Titans all the way....and now with Houstonian VY, it makes easier. I would love for the Titans to come into Reliant Stadium wearing some throwback Oilers gear. SUNDAY PREDICTIONS: Oilers 28 Texans 20. VY will have three total TD's.

    Texans.

I hope the Texans rout the Titans.

As far as all the people personally betrayed by us not drafting VY.

I think David Carr WAS a decent QB....

And now he is totally shell shocked by all the sacks.

    His career may never recover.

I myself, don't care about Vince...Even when he was in Houston he was an adversary of my local HS team. But I would think if ya'll have so much man-love for him you wouldn't wish the Texans alleged OL on him.

We have to build the lines first...and then maybe pull the trigger on a new QB.

Come on now, didn't you hate those idiots who wore Bulls jerseys in the early '90s? We had Hakeem (hometown UH hero) and these idiots were rooting for the Bulls just because they were winning. And they would alway claim some ridiculous connection that allowed them to root for the team, like their best friend's cousin's coworker once lived in Chicago during summer with their grandparents. But when Jordan left and the Bulls started sucking of course these guys just picked another team.

And it's funny that people are bringin up all this Luv Ya Blu stuff now. What happened to that stuff when Vince was in UT? Strange, I don't remember seeing many Titans posts before this year.

I understand rooting for Vince because of all he has done and is doing. I don't get jumping on the Titans bandwagon (and it wouldn't be happening if Vince was still on the bench).
