But a lot of people did. A lot of fans, like myself, and a lot of professionals in the Texans organization. I have validated your argument and said that I see where you're coming from. You can't at least acknowledge mine? Do you honestly believe fans like myself and the Texans' brass took leave of our senses completely and utterly? Is your viewpoint (and that of those who agree with you) the only one that could possibly be insightful and right? (FOREsight, not hindsight, remember) I've seen phenom after phenom after freaking phenom in college look a lot worse than DC in the NFL. I've seen DC, when given a chance actually play, look pretty damn good. That's how. The VY contingent may very well be a majority, but don't act like it was only five people who thought DC could become a great QB. I'm prepared to eat my crow, but it's not like there were only five of us and we had our heads buried in the sand. Gary Freaking Kubiak agreed, so I can't be all that stupid.
I watched a lot more Cowboys than Texans yesterday so I might be talking through my hat but no quarterback plays in a vacumn. Up until this year Carr was the most sacked QB of all time. For any quarterback to look good he has to have time to throw. The assumption that Carr just needed OL help was not a goofy one...last summer. The coincidence that Kubiak was coming in at exactly the same time that the Texans had to make a huge financial decision on Carr was just unfortunate. No new coach wants a rookie QB. (bad teams draft rookie quarterbacks for the next coach)
I didn't say I didn't respect your opinion. All I said is that it's frustrating to me...because it seemed so obvious. I don't think I have a monopoly on being right...and I would never pretend I know more about football than Gary Kubiak. Truthfully, I don't know what internal pressures on Kubiak there were to keep Carr around. I wonder, though. I'm still baffled, though. For all my respect of your opinion and respect of Gary Kubiak...I have no idea how one could pass up VY merely because David Carr was already on the team. Blows me away. I will never, ever understand that.
I agree 100%. I'm excited about the future for the Texans. I pulled for both the Texans & Titans as long as some Oilers were playing for the Titans. Now however it's "Buck you Fud"!! By the way, my wife has always been a "Buck you Fud" person; even when the Oilers were still here.
Well, I've never asked you to agree, only to acknowledge. I've made two more attempts in this thread, so I give up. Just for kicks, here was my final attempt:
MSN, Yes, I can certainly see your point. But risk is always a factor, and I think the Texans took the safe pick instead of gambling to be great. Imagine if the Rockets did the same thing and took Jay Williams over Yao....(shudder). Dare to be great ! DD
what do you want me to say, msn??? yeah...i acknowledge you felt that way. what are you asking for????
Man, that DAMN picture makes me want to break something, like his fat, ugly mug. I HATE that SOB for what he did and I always will. He sucked all the joy and fun of the NFL Houston football fan, and now Satan's right hand man has potentially the man to be crowned King Midas, VY. MF'er, SOB!!! Buttkiss Adams may you burn in hell in the whitest of the heat, and suffer the most inhumane, cruel, super painful torturest death. ESD, Bud!!! There now I feel better ... Win, Lose or Draw ... I root for the Texans even IF I think VY is pull our hearts out of our chests and stomp on them for good measure. I now bleed Steel Blue no matter how illogical that seems, even to me. God, I'm insane. Kuby will soon put together a team that the city of Houston will be proud of, bank on it, he's a winner!
Anyway, you could put horns up from the side of his head with a devil goatee? Then title at the bottom "I'm the G-- D--N Devil." That would be cool.
Seriously...it's crazy when you have to decide who to cheer for...your hometown team or their biggest rival, I think this just shows how bad the hometown team actually is (not just on the field but all the moves and the crap we've put up with the past 5 seasons).
No, that's called a BANDWAGONER. BINGO. I am giving CARR this year only with Kubiak at the helm. So this is a UT thing, not a TITANS vs. TEXANS thing for you, isn't it? We'll never know the truth as long as there's a LONGHORN playing somewhere, huh? I am with msn on this one. Since I don't watch many Titans' games, I think the OILERS of yesteryear are gone, unless you count the old coach still there [Fisher]. That team left, changed names, changed cities, and what effin' tie do I have with them? NONE. GO TEXANS!... YES, mo' fo's... PLAYOFFS next year. We will own the JAGUARS and the TITANS from now on.
Never mind, that post came across wrong and actually sounded kinda pitiful. Sorry about that. I was just picking on the "I can't for the life of me understand how..." and "I'll never understand why..." when the why has been given, both from know-nothings like me and from Kubiak himself, over and over. Not that anyone has to agree, but it's certainly out there. DD I see your point about VY being a daring pick. Question: was Mario just as daring, or even more so? Knowing that the average armchair GM would be up in arms for an entire year, they gambled on this guy being the next Julius Peppers or Reggie White, and they gambled on DC actually becoming what *EVERYONE* thought he would become when he came out of Fresno, when a ton of fans had already given up on him.
give me a break. fans in other cities are far more critical of their teams, particularly up in the northeast. the seats are still sold...people are just pissed.
What, you don't think Detroit turned on Joey Harrington? That Denver didn't turn on Plummer? Or Chicago turning on Rex Grossman? What cities, exactly, have "good" fans according to you?
You don't think Cavs fans would have turned on their team if they took Carmelo Anthony instead of LeBron James?
