you reap what you sew. the texans had a chance to embrace the city and galvanize its people, and in a sense, they collectively spat in our face. this organization deserves no respect.
i don't know that they spat in our face. i don't feel that strongly. i just feel they completely underestimated VY's impact on and off the field. John McClain reports that Bob McNair approached VY's mom at the draft and said: "we love your son. if we didn't already have David Carr, we'd take him." I can't believe they let David Carr stand in the way of that decision. I will never understand that.
What's with the bitterness some of y'all hold? And why root for Carr to do bad? I can see people thinking we need a new QB, but why wish bad for the guy. I keep hoping he will turn it around and be our man. If not we get another QB.
I have plenty of faith in Kubiak and the people in place now. We had a great draft and if it wasn't for injuries to the line would have a much better record. Spencer will come back next year and help anchor the line. Winston's knee apparently is much better thus he is looking good for the longterm. We have a defense that should dominate games.... Mario is 21 years old and is a beast(playing hurt presently). Demeco looks like the defensive rookie of the year. The Texans should be able to add a cornerback and an offensive lineman with our high picks. Next year we're talking playoffs.
Perhaps Kubiak saw more in Carr than he did in Plummer? Look, despite all the b****ing at the time and the current hindsight, all the arguments in favor of Carr at the time of the draft were both compelling and accurate. Due to the joke of a system and absence of an O-line, DC was a relative unknown (and I'm aware of and respect yours and others' arguments to the contrary, I just disagree). The o-line got a little better, the coaching got a hell of a lot better, and we're now learning some things about DC. It's not looking good. But, at the time, I understood completely the decision they made. There was just as much a chance VY would be a Michael Vick (or more so) as he would go 5-2 in his first 7 starts.
Yeah, no kidding. I'm just hoping for 8 wins next season, and that depending on the draft and the QB situation--my hopes could go down accordingly.
Sunday's game is gonna be a nutcheck for Carr. If he plays like he did yesterday its gonna get ugly real fast. We'll see what he's truly made of.
I'm bitter about it. I just keep hoping that it was all a bad dream and I'm going to wake up soon. I talked to a gentleman prior to the draft that is a family friend of Gary and his wife and who also worked with him in Denver. The conversation didn't start football but eventually gravitated towards who the Texans should draft. I told him to tell coach that there is only one choice to make, Vince Young. He started telling me that the choice to make was Reggie Bush and made his case why. I then proceeded to tell him everything that was right about Vince and the gravity of the current situation at hand. He didn't understand. Like so many of the jokers in this organization that try to out smart themselves.
See...this is what's so frustrating. Because me and a lot of people I know didn't see it that way. We thought it was incredibly simple. A very easy decision. Granted, we aren't paid to make these decisions...and I don't know as much about developing QB's as Kubiak does. But that's how I felt. And I couldn't understand for the life of me how you could look at DC and say that would keep you from taking VY. I didn't see DC as an unknown, at all. Neither did most people here. The same concerns about DC that have always been there are still there. And they're the reason why I believe he likely won't be the starting QB for the Texans next season. Same as it ever was.
Unlike most of you, I'm not a UT fan. I have no allegiance to VY whatsoever and I hate the Titans. I hope they burn at Reliant.
Ric is nonsense. He has no clue if he thinks intangibles and leadership don't play a part in getting others motivated. Clearly he has never been a leader of men ! DD
