No, that's not really fair or accurate. Bottom-Line Bud may be many things such as: lying, deceitful, incompetent, two-faced, penny pinching, dumbass, evil, back stabbing, clueless, sorry SOB, b*stard, a-hole and a POS but he's no racist.

If Bud wore an all white suit and took that road kill off his head, he could be the real life version of Boss Hogg.

This thread is just too good. Houston fans, sorry make than longhorn fans, will be pulling for VY and the Titans instead of the Texans? As far as I know VY is a player on a team, not a franchise. I didn't pull for the Cowboys because Dat played for them, or because Aaron Glenn plays for them. This is just dumb, and why Texas fans are so irrational.

Dat or Aaron Glenn are not comparable to Vince, that is why. Aggies wouldn't understand since they never had someone like Vince on their team. :D

Ehem, not all of us were saying post draft to take Vince...a good number of us were all about getting Vince BEFORE the draft.

    ;)

BTW- to answer the thread, I will root for the Texans.

The reason the VY debate will not go away I believe is because it's the Olajuwon, Drexler, Earl Campbell 'Texas' factor-

We Texans like Texas and home town heros.

The Rockets had a center, he was highly heralded, won rookie of the year and was 7'-4" (Mr. Sampson). But they had the smarts not to let that affect their decision to grab the hometown hero- The Dream who also was a center.

so the stupid -we don't draft Vince because we already have a QB doesnot play at least not at my house.

I wanted Akeem- he was hometown hero.

We passed on Drexler because we had Rodney McRay- I was angry all season because we passed on the home town hero.

Oilers traded up for Earl- Texas legend- put a big dent in the 'Dallas Cowboy' strangled hold on the Texans- to top it off our coach was 'country' Bum who wore a cowboy hat on the sidelines.

Earl talked liked a Texas native, chewed tobacco and listened to Willie Nelson

Well guess what- Vince Young is the hometown Texas hero and he would have had a Dream, Earl Campbell, Bum Phillips effect here.

In hindsight I wouldn't have wanted Dream passed in that draft for Jordan, sorry but Dream is a Rocket and forever will be in my life. :)

Lets not forget that NOLAN RYAN dude. The Stros ownership punking us fans cause Nolan wanted a measley $1mill, he left us, but we still rooted for the Express.

So, DC could slide over to WR or FB as easily as Ralph Sampson slid to PF?

I think the anaology is like not drafting Hakeem because you have Erick Dampier signed to a big money contract.

Not really. Comparing the NBA draft to the NFL draft is ridiculous.

    comparing talent to talent.

dampier is to carr as young is to hakeem.

ok, i might be getting ahead of myself on young! :) but carr...well, dampier will probably still have a starting job next season.

The original analogy was Sampson/Hakeem. I agree on the talent thing and do agree that we need a new QB. I'm just pointing out the ridiculousness of comparing drafting players in the NBA compared to drafting players in the NFL.

How can people that live in Houston, who were once Oiler fans also, could even think about rooting for the Titans? They were our team, the team they stole away from us back in '96. Bud Adams screwed over the City of Houston. I understand if you want to root for the hometown boy, but rooting for the Titans to win is just plain wrong.

This is just another reason why Houston has some of the worst sports fans in America. Where is all the hometown pride??

    Seriously...this is old and tired.

I'm a freaking 4th generation Houstonian. i loved the Oilers. I absolutely love the Rockets and Astros. I was a season ticket holder with the Texans for the first 3 years of their existence. I get personally offended when someone insults this city. The idea that I'm less of a Houstonian because I can't pull against VY in this game is just beyond absurd.

I was watching VY play here in Houston before the Texans even existed. I was in the Dome watching him pick defenses apart before Reliant Stadium was finished. I watched him put a team on his back to win a national championship for this state. And then watched him beg to be drafted by the Houston franchise after he came out early.

The Texans decided having David Carr was more important.

So save me the whole, "you're the reason we get labelled as bad fans" crap. That's nonsense. This team has absolutely sucked. They deserved to be booed. They'd be booed in any of the cities you would ramble off as the top sports cities in the country. Think they'd be met with cheers and ovations in places like Boston and New York? Doubtful. This game is, in the minds of many Houstonians, a referendum on the draft. A referendum on the decision to extend Carr and stop considering any other QB...especially VY. That's what you're gonna see.

The idea that this franchise has done anything to deserve your loyalty is pathetic. Particularly if you're over 10 years old.
