Ya'll... this is LOSER talk to me. United we stand. Let's boo together. :(

Seriously, that dismal attempt of the O-line to block the TITAN ends was just horrible [insert Bill Waltonism here].

Sorry, Dom, but you gotta go. :(

David, call your own plays, please.

Damn, the traffic to Astroworld was pretty bad with that pitiful crowd...It's good that the Texans do suck ass this year, or I might have never gotten to Astroworld today...

You are right it does not matter...it does not matter because David Carr is damaged goods now. He may never recover and his play and decision making is suffering because of it.

For his own life's sake at least until there are changes to this God awfull O-line, it might be better if he is replaced in the lineup. There is no reason anymore in this season for him to be out there getting killed.

You gotta like the quote from the only player on the Texans who looks like they are trying. Dunta Robinson.

"I actually feel sorry for our fans," Robinson said. "At a football game, the biggest thrill they get comes out of a baseball game. I mean, it's sad. Hell, no, I wasn't offended that they cheered (for the Astros). You look at what's going on with us, they're looking for something to cheer about. We're not giving it to them. We're playing like it doesn't matter."

??? Looked like 80% to me, at worst. Only the club section looked like it was missing a lot. Top and Bottom levels were full. Official attendance came in at 70K (I'd say a min of 60K were actually in their seats). Unless you're talking about the 4th quarter, of course.

But yeah, among the many downers you can have, this is one of the top: Your Season Is Over After 4 Games.

Look at this article. What do you guys think of Bob McNair's attitude towards firing the coaching staff? Also, about 25,000 people didn't show for the game.

    0-4 crying out loud
Capers' crew achieves dubious distinction of being the league's only winless team
    By JOHN MCCLAIN
    Copyright 2005 Houston Chronicle

While the Astros and their jubilant fans were dancing in the streets after a come-from-behind playoff victory over the Atlanta Braves, the Texans were doing the limbo to see how low they could go.

The Texans put their fourth consecutive stamp of disapproval on a winless season by losing 34-20 at Reliant Stadium to the Tennessee Titans, a team that entered the game with one victory.

Before the Texans could say, "Let's go, Astros," they officially became the worst team in the NFL.

Sunday's defeat, coupled with Green Bay's victory over New Orleans, left the Texans as the only team without a victory.

"We can't get much lower than that," quarterback David Carr said after being sacked seven times. "When you're going on your fourth year, it gets a little frustrating. Even if we're down, there's always something to attain. That being said, it gets tough, and it gets old."

Perhaps the Texans should call a cardiologist.

"Right now, we don't have heart," cornerback Dunta Robinson said after the Texans suffered their fifth consecutive defeat dating to last season. "That's me and everybody else."

As it stands today, the Texans have the No. 1 pick in the 2006 draft.

"We're not going to finish 0-16; I guarantee you that," center Steve McKinney said.

Although 70,430 fans purchased tickets, about 25,000 didn't show up. Those who came watched scoreboard updates on Game 4 of the Astros-Braves series and highlights on the gigantic screens.

Until the Astros began their comeback, it was so quiet at times that fans could almost hear offensive coordinator Joe Pendry calling the plays.

The fans booed the Texans' ineptness on both sides of the ball and chanted, "Let's go, Astros!" after the announcement of Lance Berkman's grand slam in the eighth inning.

"It didn't bother me that our fans were cheering for the Astros," Bob McNair said. "I'm an Astros fan, too. We have great fans, and we know they also support the Astros."

After Texans fans complained so loudly about the stifling heat during the Sept. 18 loss to Pittsburgh, the stadium roof was closed Sunday even though it was a gorgeous day outside at about 80 degrees.

And the Texans' record fell to 1-9 when the roof is closed.

"To tell you the truth, I've got more pressing issues than the roof," coach Dom Capers said.

    Like morale?

"It's a challenge," Capers said, "but we don't have front-runners. Our guys are made of the right stuff."

But they're going about it the wrong way. When a team rushes for 161 yards and limits an opponent to 90, it's supposed to win.

On an afternoon when Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher got his 100th victory and quarterback Steve McNair surpassed 25,000 yards passing, the Texans pulled within 10-9 in the third quarter.

Unlike the Astros, the Texans plummeted in alarming fashion. McNair, who threw two touchdowns, scored on a one-yard run to make it 34-12 with 7:45 left in the game.

The Texans wasted a terrific performance by Domanick Davis, who rushed for 130 yards on 19 carries.

"It's frustrating; I'm not going to lie," Davis said. "I mean, it's not like we want to lose."

The defense didn't get a sack or a turnover. They have four sacks in four games, and they're the only team in the league that hasn't forced a turnover.

For the first time in franchise history, the Texans didn't convert a third down. They failed on 13 tries and had to settle for four field goals by Kris Brown.

Carr's three-yard pass to Corey Bradford late in the game gave the Texans their lone touchdown for the fourth consecutive game. The offense has gone nine games in a row without scoring more than two touchdowns.

"This is the toughest it's been because expectations were so high," McKinney said. "We were 1-3 our first year, but nobody expected anything from us. This, well, it's just so disappointing."

    Texans Summary

    McNair: Firings won't help
Texans owner Bob McNair was asked if general manager Charley Casserly and coach Dom Capers should be worried about their jobs.

"I don't think that would improve anything," he said. "I'm committed to winning, and they are, too.

"I'm part of this team, and I take responsibility. I don't point fingers, and I don't want anyone else to point fingers, either."

    Rare situation occurs
With four seconds left before halftime, punt returner Andrae Thurman and the Titans' special teams took advantage of the rarely used "fair catch kick rule."

After Thurman called for a fair catch on a punt, the Titans attempted a 58-yard-field goal. The kick fell short to end the half.

Few people were familiar with the rule, but Titans kicker Rob Bironas said he had practiced it in training camp.

"I actually heard about (the rule) last year by my special teams coach in Pittsburgh," Bironas said. "We practiced it a little bit in training camp this year, but never quite that deep."

The rule states that after a fair catch, the receiving team has the option to put the ball in play by a snap or a fair catch kick (essentially a field-goal attempt).

"All of the rules of a field goal apply, with the exception that there is no snap and no rush," NFL supervisor Ron Baynes said. "You line up in a kickoff position, but your attempt is an attempt to kick the ball through the goal posts, and you have a chance to make three points.

"This is very rare. I'm not sure when the last time this has happened. I've been in the league 20 years and never seen it."

    Young Payton scores
Titans rookie running back Jarrett Payton, the son of the late Hall of Famer Walter Payton, scored the first NFL touchdown in the third quarter.

Payton's five-yard touchdown run gave the Titans a 17-9 lead.

    Zero for third down
The Texans' offense continued to struggle in key situations. They only reached the red zone three times and scored a touchdown on only one of those occasions.

The Texans' biggest roadblock was their 13 third-down situations. For the first time in franchise history, the Texans failed to convert a third-down attempt.

"It was an uphill battle," quarterback David Carr said. "You pick up a couple of first downs on first and second downs, but that was really the only way we were moving the ball."

The Texans have converted only 30.6 percent of their third-down attempts this season. A major reason is because of the poor pass protection. Five of Carr's seven sacks against Tennessee came in third-down situations and led to punts.

    Field position battle lost
The Titans showed how critical turnovers and kick returns are for good field position. Six times, the Titans started at their 30-yard line or better. Four of those times, the drive ended with a touchdown or field goal.

In the fourth quarter, three of Tennessee's four drives started in Houston territory. They came after an intercep-tion, a 71-yard kickoff return by Adam Jones and an onside kick recovery.

Meanwhile, the Texans had only five of 12 possessions begin beyond their 30. Three of those drives came in the fourth quarter when the Titans were playing some of their reserves.

Rookies Jerome Mathis and Vernand Morency combined to average 24.4 yards per kickoff return, and the Texans forced no turnovers on defense.

I thought it was cool of the Texas to open up the bubble so the fans could watch the end of the Astros game.

they should close Reliant instead of Astroworld. They are shockingly bad. I at least thought they would be better than the Titans this year.

He's clever. He's careful to say the right things in front of media cameras. But you you're right - it's just camera talk and you must know that he's got coaching changes rolling around in his mind.

I got so pissed I blasted an F bomb and there was a kid 3 seats down.

I apologized, but I doubt they accepted it.

At this point I don't give a **** if this team wins a game. I just hope Charley and Capers gets axed.

Did anyone see Ch13 Sports last night? I think it was Bob Allen, he caught up with McNair after the game. Bob asked him, "what are you gonna do, you can't change the players". And McNair says "yeah you can't change the players". But he still didn't hint at anything.

RIET has dead on about this since day one. charley cassersly has not done a good job.

Somehow, some way, despite being in the middle of nowhere I was able to catch the second half of this disaster of a performance last night via satellite.

The reality on the field is even worse than it seemed. I mean I figured that they over achieved the last few years and would slip back down to 5-6 wins this season, but damn they were SOOO bad. 4 wins would be a miracle from this bunch. I can't figure out why carr seems to have regressed so badly either.

Capers especially looks like he's just kind of given up, and so have the players. When he punted on 4th and 1 on the 40 yard line, his team down 18, with 6 minutes left - wow, what a total b**** move.

    They need to clean house.
