You can be both a Texans and Titans fan. I am proud to say I am one of the few (though I prefer the Titans over the Texans). Don't bother with them PSJ, its pointless. Just keep on rootin' for McNair and our boys.
Man, do you guys still buy Christmas presents for your ex-wives too? Wussies... Anyway, back to the game. McNair is getting the start although he's got a bum ankle. He'll probably be in the shotgun all day long. I think if we use the same blitzing packages we used against Buffalo, we could get to him. Maybe even knock him out of the game. If we sit back and wait for him to make a mistake, we're in trouble. He doesn't make mistakes. Anyone know for sure if Carr is starting? I can't seem to find any solid info.
One of the interesting questions will be if the titans can run on the Texans. The titans rank 28th in the run, but have been picking up a little steem as of late. Especially against the 3-4 package and on 2nd and long. Sharper was on radio yesterday but I missed his take.
We are going to get spanked...I know McNair isn't 100%, but neither is Carr and they have more to play for than us... Texans: 7 Titans: 21
Well, if you like to be screwed over by people and still waste your time with them, more power to you I guess. Of course, real Texans' fans will never recognize you as one, but I'm sure you can deal with that in one way or another.
I think we are going to lose, but I think it will be much closer than the massacre I witnessed in Nashville back in Oct. Titans 24 Texans 16
Bandwagoner!!! How can you turn your back on the jets/colts/steelers/browns/titans/raiders? Just last year you professed your undying love for them...
one team one team one team anything more is less than a fan...particularly when the other team is a divisional rival and the team that punked your hometown.
One other interesting thing to think about is the movie Castaway. Here is a guy who was an Oiler fan, got stranded on an Island for three years, and comes back to the Titans. What is he supposed to do? A Very interesting analaogy. Especially on the his wife situation. They still love each other. But their lives have now moved in different directions. Eventually at the end of the movie he is left at a crossroads as to what to do with his life. and he chooses to go for the hot new girlfriend. But I bet you he still roots for his wife too. But who really knows. It's a tough thing to face. The Browns- Ravens situation is very similar. And I don't have a pulse on the situation because I live so close to Baltimore (a city screwed over once itself), but the one difference is that Baltimore disowned it's history. They are indeed the Baltimore Ravens. With no asociation to the Browns. The Titans are still the Oilers and the Oilers are still the Titans. It's a subtle difference but an important one when you are talking about allegiance and loyalty. On a side note: The Yankees used to be in Baltimore but few people make that connection.
PSJ, Drapg, and all you self-proclaimed Titans/Texans fans (which really means Titans fans, but we think the Texans are cool)... Will you still root for the Titans once McNair and George are gone, and the team starts to struggle? Honestly, I could care less, and I do understand why you still like the Titans... but I could not fathom why any of you would still be a fan of them after they turn bad, and all the ex-Oilers are gone. I think that is the fair-weatherdness that Mrpaige and all the Texans only fans are getting upset about.
I'll be a fan of the Titans forever. Even after McNair and George leave. Even when they struggle. Keep in mind we did go 7-9 one year so we've had some bad times . I like all of the players on the team now. Bulluck, Kearse, and the whole lot. So that's my situation. I'm not a Houstonian either although I have a close connection. So when they left the city that's not something I felt like you'all. All my teams are Houston except for the Titans.
I think you are right, but it would have helped the movie if he was from Houston . It makes a good analogy to the situation he was facing.
When the Oilers first moved, I told myself I would stop rooting for the Oilers/Titans once all of the former Oilers left via free agency or retired. However, I have naturally grown a fondness towards newcomers such as Jevon Kearse, Chris Brown, Kevin Carter, Albert Haynesworth, Tyrone Calico, Tank Williams, Carlos Hall, etc. over the years. And their success has nothing to do with it. I just naturally continued to root for the team I was raised to root for after they moved, win or lose. I shed tears during all of the Oilers playoff losses, and I couldn't imagine giving the franchise up, despite the pathetic excuse for an owner. The players were not at fault, and I continued to support them. In conclusion, I will continue to root for the Titans when the ex-Oilers leave.
I guess to each their own, me, I cant root for the titans. IMHO, you cant be diehard for two teams, if they play each other, you will root for one team.
That's just what it seemed like your definition would be given that you said that the Texans don't have such players. Personally, I find players like Carr and Davis and Johnson and even some others like Gaffney (and some defensive players here and there, though the defense hasn't played well this year) to be exciting players, even though they're still learning and haven't put it all together yet. To me, Davis is a more exciting player than most because he did come out of essentially nowhere to put together a very good season when the free agent back that everybody had put their faith in could not. That's exciting to me. More exciting seeing him attempt to get to 1,000 yards than seeing Eddie George attempt to get to 1,000 yards (and, so far this season, Davis is ahead despite having seven fewer starts). And Andre Johnson has been having a good rookie year, as well, which is exciting to me. Johnson's 56 catches for 817 yards certainly betters the "exciting" Justin McCareins' 44 catches for 707 yards... and the Titans have completed over 60 more passes for about 1,100 more yards, making Johnson's showing all that more impressive and exciting. So, since the Texans have players who are generating excitement and putting together quality seasons that comare favorably with the seasons of the exciting Titans, it would appear that what makes an exciting group of players in the number of wins they put on the board since the Texans have not, to you, developed a character that makes them exciting. I disagree. I think they are exciting. I think they're developing a personality, and just like I'm sure those fans of the Titans were excited about the potential of Steve McNair and Eddie George when they'd come on the field and show some flashes, so it is with watching the Carr and Davis and Johnson and others for me. And it's exciting that this second-year team that's spent the whole season with defensive injuries and troubles has been so close in so many games. That's exciting because it bodes well for next year. This Texans team may well be a 5-11 team, but maybe next year's is a 9-7 team or better. And that's exciting to me. So, because this Texans team is exciting to me, I don't understand how they aren't exciting to you.
sure, but is she gonna share the pew with your finacee during your wedding? no, she'll be on the "don't even think about inviting her" list.
Halftime entertainment - ZZ Top Salute I don't really know what it is. Will they, ZZ Top, play a song or do you think it will be just some music through the P.A. and The Texans giving them a some sort of award on the field?? http://www.houstontexans.com/photos/titans_entertainment121603.pdf
