I hated Comcast. Ditched them and got Uverse. Very happy with it.

Never tried sattelite. I hear DirecTV has the best quality. I just could never find a package that had all the channels I wanted at a decent price.

Just put in a call to DirectTV. Looks like I'm going with them. Uprising, since you were first (and I'm not sure if I can put down multiple refferals, sorry DFW_Rockets_fan) I'll call back and give them your referral.

And I was a bit off on the details. My final package will look like this:

    1 HD DVR
    2 HD Recievers
225 Channels + HD For Life

    $54.99/mo (12/mo)
    No install or equipment fees.

No NFL Sunday Ticket with this package sadly....to get that I'd have to bump up to $59.99 per month for 5 months, which then goes to $113/mo or so....no thanks.

Total contract however is for 24 months ---> you sort of have too for the "free DVR/HD for life" deal. But at that rate, its not too bad. Plus they told me I could call back after 12/mo promo over and they could offer other promos.

If you have DirectTV right now, how accurate is that? Still getting good promo rates after 12/mo expire rate?

As for the internet, they had to send me to an AT&T rep to bundle it, and it'll be:

    $19.95 - 12/mo promo rate(no contract)

However I do have to either buy a DSL modem from them for $100 or buy my own DSL modem. They also gave me the option of calling AT&T direct and seeing if they had any lease/rentals they could offer.

So that brings the total too:
    $54.99+$19.95 = $74.95 before taxes.

    Comcast Bill from last month?

    HBO FREE
    Digital Preferred Package 77.90
    High Def Equipment Lease 7.95
Digital Video Pkg. Disc. 6mo. -22.91
    62.94

    Internet 1.5/mbps 26.95
    Modem Rental 5.00
    31.95

    Total Comcast Bill: 94.89

So still around $20 saved! I might call Comcast though and see if they're willing to give me a better rate then 19.99 for 6mbps, for just internet alone. Then I'll just keep DirectTV for TV and Comcast for cable internet.

What DSL speed tier is that for $19.95/month?

I can almost guarantee you it's not 6 mbps.

    Supposedly its still 6/mbps. They have a $14.95 for 3/mbps and a $9.95 for 1.5/mpbs.

    If it's true 6 mbps, then that's a hell of a deal.

I have the 30 mbps tier from Comcast, and it truly is that speed which totally kicks ass. But it's pricey.

Comcast was CRAP. Went to AT&T and it was much, much better. Had a few problems with the box, but they just put in a new one and it was fine. The dvr works great!!

The only thing that sucks with Direct TV is when it rains you don't no signal so you can't really do anything.

I've had mine go out twice since I've had it, for about 5 min. I've had it since August 1st.

Both times, we had crazy storms hit out area. It only seems to go out when the worst of the storm is over us. (Very windy/rain etc.) Once the worst passes, rain is no problem.

That's one of the things I'm worried about...I'm in Chicago so we get hit hard with the snow/sleet/hail. I'm afraid that the snow will pile up and I'll have to go clean it off.

But now with the discounts/rebates/refferals, my price drops from $54.99 to roughly $30-40 a month. Sweeeeeeeeeet deals.

Why do they need to be maneuvered around?

I haven't had one issue with ours (knock on wood) and my feed doesn't go out very often.
