[tips] 1 year old thinks its funner to feed the dog then to eat

Swat him on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and shout "No" at the top of your lungs.

 

My two year old son and three year old daughter occasionally think it's funny to feed our two dogs from the table, and the dogs will also park themselves like vultures under the table to scarf down anything that falls on the floor.

We now put the dogs behind one of the child gates while we eat. The dogs can see us if they choose to hang by the gate or they can go chill downstairs. It has definitely cut down on the dogs getting so much food, and the kids are more focused during meals.

Maybe you could put your dog where he could see you but not get to the table. Our dogs used to freak out if we locked them up in a cage or in a room.

Now if I could just get my daughter to eat vegetables...

 

This teaches the kid that it's okay to feed the dog when it's indoors, only because when it's outdoors, the dog can't reach the food. This will not fix the problem.

Progressively, the dog must be kept away from the table, and be told not to approach it, whether there are people eating there or when there aren't.

Both the dog and the kid need to be taught to not do either action, and the teaching must be consistent from both parents (providing the other one isn't an alien or someone trying to blow up buildings from inside).

 

He knows there's fluoride in the food supply!
