I went to a Subway today for the 1st in ages because I was starving and it was the 1st thing I saw in the area, and when I went to pay, the card reader was asking for 15%, 18%, 20%, or 25% tip Lmao, since when was even Subway asking for tips?
They been doing it for a few years now. Everyone wants a tip. No more tips unless you fall in a certain category.
man I almost started laughing at the register Tips at Subway? Lol soon the gas pump is gonna be asking for 20% tip
No, I don't associate with the kind of places you can only afford to tip $0.01 cents in. You filthy poor person. Get out of my sight. You disgust me you filthy pig.
It's a judgement call boss. I know baristas at Starbucks are getting normal wages, so I proudly hit "no tip". However, in smaller businesses, you know the people packing your food are more than likely the waiters making peanuts. We are all smart individuals and I'm pretty sure we can figure it out. We damn well know that establishments with their stupid screen where they just turn it around asking us for money, we know those places they are making normal wages (debatable of living wages lol).
I am over feeling guilt when I buy a donut and coffee and don't tip the teenager who picked up the donut and put it in a bag.
Ordered from a steakhouse for the family and had a 5 year old knock on the door cause he couldn't reach the doorbell. I told his mother why the **** you have this kid bringing food up to us like that but she didn't give a ****. Pickup and home cooking for this household from now on.
Why I refuse to order via these apps... Items cost more Service/delivery fee now 20% tip is not enough for getting a pizza..
So many times I start an order on these apps and when I get to checkout and see the fees and increased item prices I say to hell with it and I'll order from the restaurant directly and pick up. Things have regressed backwards, restaurants actually prefer if you do it the old fashioned way and call to place your pick up order. Even the ones that take orders from their website often use a service like Toast or Slice that charges the restaurant money. If you call they can put it directly in their system as if you are ordering in the restaurant and it saves them money. I remember during Covid Bernie's Burger Bus was begging customers to stop using apps to order food from them, they couldn't make it and they haven't been back since.
