Put your money where your mouth is.

I'm totally sold after looking more into Osweiler. I honestly think if he hits near his ceiling, he will be similar to Roethlisberger. I know that there are probably not many that share this opinion. All I'm saying is he'll be hard to take down, fairly mobile, has an arm, and will be able to make plays out of nothing similar to what Big Ben can.

So, to prove it, if, within his first three years as a Texan, if Osweiler doesn't have one season greater than Roethlisberger's average season, I'll put a 20 in the tip jar. If he doesn't hit those numbers in his first year, I'll put in $10. The $20 is on top of the $10 if I have to pay them both.

We'll put the stat line as so:

    At least -

    64% Completion Percentage
    3500 yards
    23 TDs
    7.7 Y/A
    Division Title

Those numbers are on par, or just about on par with Big Ben's career average. I'm giving Osweiler until the age of 28/29 to have one season better than them. Surely we would all be happy with them, correct?

Anyone else want to take the flip side? Snow Villers? Anyone else want to make a different wager? Feel free.

Anyone feel free to bump this after his third season here and tell me if I was right, or if I need to pay up.

Putting your money in the hands of the fans? (Fan voting)
Will the Pro Bowl even be around in 5 years?

I have a feeling that one of the teams in the SuperBowl next season will have home field advantage ;)

I figured I'd be flamed for it being a 5 year long thing, lol.

I should probably come up with a better stats-based metric. Maybe I'll look at some of Roethlisberger's early years and come up with something. I'll edit the original post.

I feel good about our chances of being the first home team there. A ton better than I did a week ago when I proclaimed we would be.

Does it still count if he's a pro bowl alternate? Like if people bow out due to injury or being in the playoffs?

A lot could happen in five years. The Texans could be the St Louis Missourians. We could be in the zombie apocalypse. We might have a team from another planet. Teaxas might be a country of its own. You can't just make a bet like that, man.

Who gives a crap about the pro bowl? Big Ben won 2 super bowls. Charles Schwab went to two pro bowls. IDGAF

Yes as did Eli Manning, Carr and Winston. If you want to go to the Pro Bowl as a QB you're probably welcome.

All of those numbers are equal or worse than Schaub's Per16 average as a Texan ... so I'm guessing that not all would be happy with them.

They're not that much better than Fitz's year here either, but they're based off his comp I used. Those are right at Roethlisberger's career averages. Remember, I'm giving him three seasons. In my opinion he's right at that level this season.

People used to beat the VY drum about him being a pro bowler in a similar situation, so why not?

I care more about the win-loss performance of the team. I won't be happy if he is an all-pro and the team is still going 9-7. But I will be happy if the team finds a way to win inspite of his poor play.

I am aware that the QB's performance affects the performance of the whole team but we've seen enough cases where (i.e this year's Bronco team) other parts of the team carry it to success.

I mostly hope the signings lead to rings. The individual success is very secondary to that.
