Blazers? We'd own the Blazers in 5 games. Matchups are perfect and they have beaten us once in a couple of years due to a LUCKY shot, they cant eve figure out how to beat us in regular season, much less playoffs.

I might be wrong about this, and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but we're only bumped to #4 because Denver is now leading their division, but we have the same record, and if the season ended today, we would still be the #3 seed because we hold the tie-breaker against them . .

I don't know what standings you guys use, but mine show us at #3. Like you said, we have the same record and win the tie-breaker. Leading their division doesn't matter because it only guarantees them one of the top 4 spots.

stern shouldn't have changed the rule about that, it's also Tracy's fault.

Mavs are worthless, they absolutely threw this game away...

JJ was actually one of the only Mavs who came to play, this team is absolutely worthless.

exactly, JJ was the only one mav that came to play. I think JJ wouldn't have played that good if Jason Kidd had played that game, their team would have played better though.

Maybe my sarcasm meter is out of order but it seems that you genuinely feel like JJ Barea would pose a threat in a 7 game series...I mean sure a lot of guys can go off for a game here and there in the regular season but he is not going to be a guy that torches us for four games. AB is quick enough to stay with him but even if he isn't Adelman can make very simple adjustments/substitutions. He is not going to cause havoc on our defensive matchups...Deron Williams and Chris Paul on the other hand are the real deal and are able to counter defensive adjustments in so many ways. Let's just hope JJ's wish eventually comes true this playoff season...

Not to mention, we didn't have this Kyle Lowry character when Barea went off on us. I think that makes it a much easier match up for us to deal with.

I don't know what the Mavs are thinking wanting to play against the Rockets.

I would absolutely salivate at that matchup. The only matchup that is better for the Rockets, IMO, is PHX (assuming they made it into the playoffs).

Houston is as much of a matchup nightmare for Dallas as Utah is for Houston. They don't have anyone with the size to handle Yao or Artest. Kidd cannot handle our quick guards on defense, unless they plan to play Barea extended minutes. Artest and Battier on the wings will give Howard and Terry fits. We have the personnel to contain Dirk. They don't have anyone on the bench behind Dirk at the power forward position who can somehow stay with Landry so that he doesn't eat their lunch over and over. Their bench cannot even dream of being as deep as ours is. There's a reason why they are down there and we are near the top of the conference despite having dealt with far worse injury issues.

I certainly hope we get the Mavs in the first round. Perhaps this team would make it to the conference finals after all.

You have to look at it from their perspective. They're a lower seed, and they'll probably have to face one of the top seeded teams. Right now, that's the Lakers, Spurs, Rockets, and Nuggets. Of those four teams, its no surprise to me that teams would rather face the Rockets.

In some circles, people say that the Rocket are the team no one wants to face. Yeah, if the alternative is facing the Blazers or Mavs or Suns, maybe. But if your'e a bottom seed, and the alternative is facing the Lakers or Spurs, I'd say, "Bring on the Rockets!"

That's a fair enough assessment of their mindset about the Rockets, but what about the fact that he put the Spurs in their too? I know they're getting old, but who wants to play the Spurs in the first round of the playoffs? They've gotten into at least the second round 10 out of the last 11 years, including 4 championships.

Barea is an idiot for calling his shot like that.

He better make sure that his Mavs even make the playoffs...the Suns could take their spot! It's what I'm hoping for!
