I beg to differ, double D. CHeck it: http://img134.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf5789eh2.jpg . My wife helped with the WORLD-THEMED paintings. The SwoLy-Gameroom has a "worldly" feeling to it. Too bad I leave the cables EVERYWHERE. :( I am definitely MARRIED, man.

I've actually sat in a home theater that would make that look slummy... :D This guy's home theater setup cost something like $100-$150k.

Here's my setup for everyday viewing:
    55" Mitsubishi Medallion HD1080 Series
    Onkyo 7.1 HTIB + HTR510 A/V Processor
Toshiba SD-H400 Tivo Series 2 Digital Media Server DVD Player
    [IMG]
(ignore the dogs playing in the foreground; they wouldn't get out of the way)

Here's my self-made home theater room:
96" Homemade fixed screen w/black velvet curtains and trim
Infocus Screenplay 4805 DLP front projector
    Yamaha 5890 7.1 A/V Processor
    Oppo OPDV971H DVD Player
    SVS PB10 Powered Sub
Fluance speakers all the way around (5.1 for now)

    From this

    To this
    [IMG]

Now for some screenshots. First up is X-Men The Last Stand ;)

Finally some screenshots from Mission Impossible 3

(love this shot of Tom running scared to death)

In total it all cost me just about $2k so far. Still looking for home theater seating and cleaning up the wiring some more. Believe it or not the screen materials cost less than $50. :)

I watched about 5 minutes of Independence Day (I was just visiting... :D). Unbelievable bass in that room. He had Wilson Audio subs - I don't remember what the rest of his setup was. I'm surprised the guy didn't even go crazier with it. He's a doctor who started his own software company.

I don't have all that, but I drink Trappistes Rochefort 10, which makes Celebrator look like Corona.

So far it's the best DVD player I've used. Of course the only others were cheapy Apexes but it is definitely better than my Toshiba player. Upconversion is good via DVI and so far it will play any disc I throw at it (including xvid and divx videos).

Oppo released a newer model with HDMI but I'm not a fan of the cheaply made buttons up front: http://www.oppodigital.com/dv970hd/dv970hd.html

Never had it, not sure where the hell to get it, I have to get the celebrator in freakng connecticut - or pay overly exorbitant NYC prices. :(

Tommyboy's set up is awesome - just get rid of that ghetto cardboard box for your center speaker! LOL, 10's of 1,000's of equipment - get a speaker stand, man, or low table or something..man I'll loan you the money! ;)

Just got my new camera/lens today, so I thought I may as well goof off with it. This is the family room. I have a 20x20 room upstairs that I keep telling myself will be a projector/media room or a game room. I still haven't decided.

This is a 7.1 system. My pride and joy (the ".1") is the beast in the front left of the picture - hiding behind the "plant". When the bass from that hits, it really hits. God, I love that. :) The front 3 speakers you can see. The surrounds are on the right and left walls. There're also 2 in-ceiling speakers overhead and behind the reclining portion of that sofa - where I camp out while watching and listening to Sauron's ring hit the ground in Lord of the Rings.... BOOOOMMM. You can see the Trilogy on the tv/equipment stand. ;)

One thing I screwed up on when I built the house was that I didn't think the layout of that wall would look like this, so there aren't enough outlets in the right positions on the wall. The end result is that bird's nest of wires over near the subwoofer. Ah well... I'm thinking about getting an electrician to pop in some outlets behind the tv soon.

LOL everyone says the same thing to me when they see the setup! I'm just too darn lazy to shop for a stand right now. I'll just throw some black velvet over it to hide it... :)

Is that the mother of all subs, a SVS sub?

If that's a SVS PC sub then that is the mother of all subs! Those things hit and they hit hard! I have a SVS PB10 sub and that's more than enough for my room size. :)
