Nahh, it's aesthetic. I have a small picture above the TV which is out of the frame, but really you don't want to put anything too notable above the screen because it distracts both from the TV and doesn't do justice to the picture either. The stuff I like I tend to give more prominent locations where it's not fighting with the TV.

You, sir, are sadly mistaken. There's a Spider-man poster in the backgound of my pic and sports paraphernalia in plain view. Not pictured are my Houston Astros 2006 calender and my miniature nerf basketball goal. And yeah, there's also the dartboard on the wall in the dining area along with vintage Astros/Bud Light aluminum signage. So there you have it. Proof positive I can decorate with the best of 'em. Cheers. :D

You don't consider my Cluch and TMAC bobbleheads, Rockets crystal ball, and Yao Figure (Got that from a deal someone posted on CLutchfans a while ago for like 5 bucks!) to be art?!? I have a Tmac signed ball in a case next to the TV, not pictured though. I used to have a life size Yao cardboard thing from the stadium on the rightside of the TV

Are you sure you don't have HD yet? I mean, have you tried over-the-air (OTA) HD reception (it's free, digital, 5.1 surround, awesome)? I'm not sure which model you have, but if it was sold to you as an HDTV, it should have an ATSC tuner (for digital OTA reception) built in. Plug in some rabbit ears, switch input to ANT and/or AIR and give it a shot (check out the fball games on SAT & SUN). If you can't get no reception, try these amplified rabbit ears (they work pretty good - even for a friend of mine who lives in a downstairs apartment facing away from the local broadcast antenna farm). Samsung HDTV tuners usually provide a signal strength meter (it should help you orient the antenna to pick up an uninterrupted digital stream). This info will show you where to look for the digital channels in your area. For instance, the local HTown CBS affiliate broadcasts analog on VHF 11 but it uses UHF 31 for its digital multicast.

not all tvs have the hdtv tuner built in it is an extra cost to the tv. if he has a tv that is hd ready then he will have to have the hd receiver and programming to be hook up to the tv. the standalone antenna unfortunately will not do the trick. it is a safe bet though to assume most tvs over 42" have a built in tuner---there are models that dont. There is a hdtv ready model of my tv. i went with the built in hdtv of course.

having a built in tuner is great for people who watch the majority of their televsion on the local networks. all they need is a good antenna and good placement and they are set

They key is whether it was labeled/marketed as an HDTV or not. They cannot market it as an HDTV without an HD tuner. Hopefully, the label on Bogey's was HDTV and not "HD Ready" TV. Hate to see all that 720p resolution go to waste.

    Look

I consider ALL of these system and decorations ART.....my wife (whom is in charge of official decorating at my house) would not.

However, my office and my garage are all mine.....well the garage is....mostly.
