In our new house we have 3 sets of Paradigm speakers built into the upstairs ceiling (Living room, Master bed room and Master bath). Each has a "Niles" volume control and are run through our Integra amp in the downstairs mechanical room. The downstairs amp can be controlled from an upstairs keypad. In addition we had them add a set of composite jacks in the master bath so that we can hook up our iPods and play them through any or all of the upstairs Paradigms.

i dont think they do I remember looking at directv's HD lineup and it was pretty limited. In fact the only thing Directv has going for them is the sunday ticket which garners a lot of business (sports bars, fans etc), but if you are not a NFL junkie than i would go with dish the prices are roughly the same and they have a much better HD lineup. I think directv had about 10 hd channels while dish has closer to 30 (not incl premium hd channels)

the only hd channels i recall directv having is espn,espn2,tnt,hdnet,hdnet movies, discovery, and universal hd

right now with dish i have all the above plus hgtv, food network, hdnews, rush, gallery, a cartoon hd, world hd, world sports hd plus others.

outside of the standard local channels in hd

That's exactly what I was thinking. The bigger the TV the smaller the guy's tool! :D I have a 2.1 inch portable TV. ;)

This is like that car commercial where the people all have bull horns and they are saying things like, "Because I make more money than you." :D

The KUNG FU HD sounds cool. I may be forced to go to a dish once Time Warner leaves Houston. Do you guys know where I could buy some of the old Kung Fu flicks that used to come on back in the day on Kung fu theater? I remember movies like Golden Arms were kick ass.

As a Magneplanar MMG owner, I would reccomend getting the most Maggie you can afford.

Since you are doing the home theater thing, try this setup:

For the center channel, use a pair of the MMGC's (seen with the MMGW's) - They will form a phantom center channel between the speakers:

For the fronts, use a pair of MMG's:

For the rears, go with more MMG's, or the MMGWs.

Also, Maggies are not electrostats. They use planar magnetic drivers.

It seems he built the frame probably using like black tarp/sheets and created the border the screen itself looks to be park of the wall painted a better white...i could be wrong though. My cousins neighbor did something similar to what i just described in his house to make a large white wall a projection screen. it worked pretty well. like i said before i am not a huge fan of the front projection since it requires the room to be dark

    but nice setup nonetheless

BlackOut cloth purchased from JoAnn's, stretched over a wood frame. I painted the left & right borders black. The top & bottom borders are corrugated cardboard randomly folded and unfolded to look like wood paneling, then painted black.

Using a plain white wall is perfectly ok as long as it's smooth. My wall is textured with rough spackling, so I needed a screen. Not too much trouble to make one either. Was kind of a fun weekend project.

The center speaker is right where it's supposed to be - in the center, silly boy. J/K ... it is in the center between the slanting DVD columns. The speaker is black so hard to see (give's it that integrated-into-the-setup look). DVD player/receivers are at opposite wall from screen (not in the picture). I found a cool side table that has a shelf in it for my receiver and DVD player. So, those components are inconspicuously ensconced in that side table next to the couch. Since this is front projection, most of the wiring/component placements can be hidden opposite the screen itself.
