My wife absolutely hates all my crap, especially the thick speaker wires I'm running to the rears (over the carpet, nonetheless). She constantly b****es about how ugly and big everything is. What she doesn't know is that she's lost the war, because in my mind, HT > wife. :)

For "movie night" or the "big game" gathering:

Epson HomeLite Projector w/1080i LCD (HD)
Da-Lite 8' Screen (portable or mounted option) -sometimes use outside

    For regular viewing:

Sanyo 32" "SDTV" from Wal-Mart (takes less space)

    All sound goes through the:

    Home Theater processor...
Sony STRK-750P (5.1 Dolby Digital Surround, w/powered sub. AM/FM, blah, blah... about 575 watts w/sub)

    Signals come from:

Sony SLV-789HF Stereo 4-head VCR (with VCR+, etc.)

Sony MDP-800 Laser Disc player (auto-reverse too!) -use as cd player, and for around 25 LD's

Sony DVP-NS325 DVD Player (single disc)

Sony PS2 w/4 logitech wireless controllers

    ------------------
The thing I like the best is that all of my equipement fits in one old home stereo cabinet (the kind that had a turntable on top) that I gutted and retro fitted.

btw-I'm looking into a 42" or so Sony LCD to hang on the wall above it, and throw the Sanyo in the bedroom (where the ol' 27" Sharp resides), then give the game room the old 27", and then my son would get the ol' 19" from the game room... we also have an ol' 13" in the kitchen... oh, and my 15" LCD in the 'puter room...

I have a set-up in the bedroom too with an old school 200 watt Realistic tuner that takes signal from the tv output... sounds almost like a true surround (at least as good as Dolby pro II)... lot's of bass for explosions, etc.

But I save old components and re-use them in other applications... (still have my Pong, Atari 2600, Coleco, Sega Genesis, & Playstation, too)

    I'm a cheapskate. :D

I don't even have the flat screen. I think I have the cheapest and smallest regulation tv. They don't really get smaller than 14 inches.

    Living Room:
    Mitsubishi 55" RP HDTV
    Time Warner HD DVR
    Malata Region-Free DVD Player
    Pioneer CLD Laserdisc Player
    Integra DTR 5.3 Receiver
    Paradigm 6.1 Speakers and Subwoofer

    Bedroom:
    Samsung 32" LCD HDTV
    Time Warner HD DVR
    Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD Player
    Onkyo Receiver
    Onkyo 7.1 Speakers and Subwoofer

I bought the Mitsubishi HDTV almost 5 years ago, so it only has component inputs. But I've got HDMI cables on the HD DVR and HD-A1 player upstairs. I've also got analog 5.1 cables connecting the HD-A1 player to the receiver. Once Batman Begins comes out on HD-DVD in 3 weeks, I'll finally get to try out a Dolby TrueHD lossless audio track.

Jeebus. You guys take your tv watching seriously.

I have a 46" something. Don't have any idea what. No speakers or anything other than what came with it. It was the only what I considered to be frivilous thing I bought myself after my divorce.

I spend so much money on music equipment, photography equipment and computer stuff (generally in that order), I don't have much leftover for tv. :)

I only listen to 2 channel stereo. I'll take my 2 Magneplanars over any 5.1 dynamic speaker setup.

    Pioneer 301 Disc Changer
    Philips 36" HDTV (CRT)
    Toshiba DVD player (El Cheapo)
Grommes Vintage 120 watt tube integrated amp monoblocks
    Magneplanar MMG Speakers

This is awesome. I have this image (for those that have shown pictures) of the rest of your house/apartment being completely empty. Not saying it is, just that it would be funny because that is some serious money invested for what I can only assume are mostly young guys.

I am shocked by VesceySux having a wife after that picture. Even I think that looks horrible and messy.

I have spent years perfecting my system's minimal invasion of my wife's aesthetic. 3M's 2" plastic tape has been a godsend because it allows me to run speaker wire along the molding of my wall bases without being noticeable except on close inspection. So I have a 6.1 setup in my living room. Nothing compared to what you guys have, though:

27" Sony Trinitron flatscreen tube - weighs about 55 pounds
    Pioneer 6.1 Multi-Channel Receiver
    Pioneer DVD/CD/MP3 player
Magnavox 5 CD carousel (no idea why I still have this - it is probably 10 years old and I don't really use it)
    Dish Network Receiver/DVR
    Green XBOX
    Speakers:
    Center - Infinity Primus
    L,R, Sub - JBL Norwood
Sats - 10 year old crappy ones
rear center - KLH 3-channel (this is a good story - this speaker at the time I got it retailed for about $100. Somebody told me that there was something up with Best Buy's website and was showing it as 19.99. So I bought it and selected the "pick it up yourself" option and went to go get it at the customer service pickup. The employees were very confused because it had never been on sale and would not ring up as 19.99. All I kept saying was "I bought it online for 19.99, here is my receipt." They finally got a manager who was equally confused but was able to manually eneter the price into my checkout and I got out of there with the speaker. It is not that great because it is KLH but it was fun to rip off Best Buy.)

Nice system, Vescey. Is there a better value for a pre/pro than that Outlaw 950? It can keep up with components 4x its price.

The whole Outlaw line is outstanding. I've been eyeing their RR2150 Retro Receiver with the USB DAC built right in:
