Thanks for the reminder. I've had DVR from Time Warner for almost a year now (in NYC), and I called to upgrade to the new HD DVR box today (for the same price!). Double the recording space, plus I finally get HD back (after giving it up for DVR)! The TW rep said the new box could record 70 hours of HD programming or 90 hours of standard TV. Woo-hoo! My wife and I will actually have room for BOTH our recorded shows!

I picked mine up at the retail center on tidwell because it is open until 7 pm.

It is not hard to hook up and I already love it. go to twchouston.com and find the location closest to you.

This is arguably the funniest post I've read in quite some time. Beautiful in its simplicity.

My hat is off to you my friend.

I saved myself 20 bucks and picked one up in person last night, and the thing rules.

The box has built-in picture in picture, shows a 1/4 screen shot of what you're watching when you browse the channel guide, and the menus are just all around nicer looking and easier to navigate.

I like that it automatically starts recording in the background the second you filp to a channel. Last night I was flipping channels, and happened to stumble onto the Astros game right before the exact pitch to Beltran that started the 3 consecutive home runs. Despite the fact I never hit the record button, I was able to pause live television and go back and watch replays of all 3 homers. So sick.

Now if it only had a wish list like TiVo.

I'm loving it also. Last night my wife was watching designers challenge on HGTV and my daughter called her from the other room just as the first designer was presenting her concept. She came back a few mins later and asked me what the design was like. I said well why don't you watch it for yourself and rewinded the show. She was in shock since she thought DVR was just like a VCR.

This morning I set it to tape 2 Dora the Explorer and 2 Simpsons so tonight when I'm playing poker and she is at home alone with the kids she has something for them to watch.

Thanks Time Warner... now where is my ESPN HD.:D

Do you have to plug the TWC box into a phone line? Isn't that what you have to do with TIVO?

I have Charter cable and I have successfully recorded two at once. In addition while recording two, you can watch a third provided it is a recorded show.

"Time remaining" is always relative. When recording from a digital source (satellite, digital cable), a "35 hour DVR," you can typically fit 22-23 hours of Basketball, or 45-50 hours of CNN.

So in all how much extra a month is it if you already have digital cable and want this DVR device?? I don't know much about it so a single post with all the details would be great as reading through all of this I'm quite confused.

$5 more a month per box.
    got mine yesterday.
totally worth it for the improved interface/speed alone.
