Nah it would've been much lamer had they tried to come up with an explanation as to why 90's prosthetics make better costumes than 60's makeup. It was clever and an inside joke. I loved it.
I liked in the series finale when they showed Rikers Enterprise F or whatever it was. Cloaking device and like 3 nacelles (sp?). Ok, I'm all nerded out. The inner geek is satisfied.
I guess this is close to this thread, but I just finished reading "Timeline" by Micheal Chrichton. Great book, it could have been the basis for an incredible movie like Jurassic Park but they basically made a B movie out of it. If you could time travel to any point in human history, where and when would you go? Highest Risk/Biggest Reward = Roswell New Mexico 1947 for the supposed UFO crash.
Id go for the greatest defining moment in Western civilization. I'd go back and stalk Jesus in a black leather jacket, sunglasses and a walkie talkie, to see if I could get back my sports almanac. But seriously, that would be an amazing thing to know for sure. My gut tells me Jesus was "just" an amazing philosopher, but to actually know if there was anything supernatural associated with him... Aliens are real I'm sure and even visiting regularly but I think Roswell is a hoax.
