True. You can get a fairly nice server from Dell for under $5000 and even going so far as to set the server up in a co-lo wouldn't bring the price up to 10K.

I am in for this round of tip jar funding. I will have my wife do PayPal this evening.

You're obviously not aware of the common psychological concept called the "bystander effect."

"Oh, there's no need to contribute money to the tip jar because someone else will do it."

Clutch CANNOT make a profit on this site, lest the NBA will come and serve an eviction notice. Having dealt with the NBA at my job, all I can say is that the league is super strict about content control and revenue streams and guards both jealously.

Clutch's only hope lies in anonymous contributions from us, so, please, give the guy a buck. Who knows? With enough donations, we might even get our beloved search function and "thingy" back...

Although it is more prevalent in the Hangout and D&D than here, people love to give their proverbial ".02 worth." Not to toot my own horn, but awhile back I looked at my post count, multiplied it by 2 cents and gave that amount. It may not be diddly squat for a newbie, but once you stick around and rack up the post count, it will add up. It's money well spent.

Just contributed my $5. I like the post count idea, but I cannot afford $30 right now. I work for a community college and took an effective pay cut this year, but I will continue to contribute when I have the $.

    no guilt trip intended...

It became obvious with canoner's post that alot of posters here dont realize that Clutchcity.net and the BBS are not ran by a corporation, nor are they supported by the Rockets.

The reason why I started ranting about it was that I have an idea of what this place must be causing Clutch to pay for it, and to have people whining about why the BBS is down in chat and onthe board...but yet have never even considered the fact that it is privately run and funded by a guy who isnt rich and has a family to worry about on top of the hassle of the BBS.

and then I realized I hadnt donated to help in a looong while...so I decided to start ranting about it in the hope that some others would help the man out.

No one is expecting you to singlehandedly support the site...but if everyone pitched in.....

    you get the idea...

I gave a 10 spot (for starters) last night before R2K's guilt trip. ;) I was hesitant about using Paypal as I'd never used it before, but surprisingly it was very simple.

This won't be my last donation. I highly recommend it for everyone.

PayPal is extremely safe, my wife has used it over and over again buying and selling on Ebay. We have never had so much as a hiccup in payments.

I think RM95 would have to take out a loan. :D

Maybe once a month we should all donate 1 dollar for post/day. In other words, if you're at 9 posts per day, donate 9 bucks a month. That's what I'm going to do from now on.

Maybe we could see how far along to a goal of getting enough for a new server.

    Or something.

I don't know how to use Paypal. Maybe I'll just send a check.

This site has been my start up page since 1999, I didn't start posting here until lately. I want to thank Clutch and crew for all the hard work they have done, anytime there is something going on with the Rockets, I always know where to go. I am going to put in at least 5 dollars, it all adds up. I hope everyone else will help out too.

I hadn't donated in a while so I dropped a ten spot in the tip jar. I will continue to contribute throughout the year, I hope everyone else will do the same.

I bet canoner2002 hates to open the GARM forum and see his post near the top, I bet he wants this thread to die... but if this thread does nothing other than raise money for the site, I wouldn't mind seeing it at the top! :)

C'mon folks, drop a few bucks in the tip jar, you know it will be worth it!!

    *bump* C'mon guys, dig deep.

Paypal still scares the hell out of me, so I'll probably be sending a check.

    Everyone needs to pitch in.

Paypal is perfectly safe. At least, based on my experiences. I auction off alot of stuff on Ebay and have used Paypal probably, at least 50-60 times for stuff. Never had a problem.

Its just as safe as paying for anything else on line.
