First, he can take a beating every night, he's a young bulldog. And second, how do you know he's hit his ceiling? Your opinion straight sucks and isn't worth taking seriously.
Melvin Durent is a scrub and Lowrey is worth more currencly, if we package him up with our assests we could reach for Labrawn Jaymez. Or trade for Flake Griffen and Randee Foil.
I don't see why trading Loudry is so important now. LA was only going to give up Paul Gasao if they landed Chris Pau.
I also agree, his court vision if far from top notch. I'd prefer he'd have less hustle and rebounding, and more court vision and BB IQ for a PG.
While I respect your opinion, I have to disagree on trading Lowry (unless it's for DWill) because your only argument is that he plays with physicality and intensity. Why would you not want that in a player? Kyle has been playing with this bulldog style since his collegiate career at Villanova and succeeded there. Yao and Tracy were injury prone and they didn't take or receive much contact. Basketball isn't a supreme contact sport like football, so I'm sure it's not taking a toll on his body. Here's an example: Dennis Rodman was one of the most physical and aggressive players in NBA and he was a relevant player for 14 years. I don't understand why we should trade Lowry when he's improved each year? How do you know he's at his ceiling? He's only 26 and he plays with more passion than any other PG in the league. If he's improving each year then what makes you think he's peaked now? In Jason Kidd's early career and prime he drove to the rack at full-speed and looked for contact as well. He has great court vision, but nonetheless, he was known for blazing up and down the court at full-speed. Jason Kidd is not a great shooter, but he made up for it with fast breaks and assists. So, he's scoring by using more effort than skills? Would you rather he have skills and use less or no effort? In any sport, it's not always about skill, but how much heart and effort you play with. Isiah Thomas was always taking contact and played physical as well, so I can't agree with your argument. He's the biggest reason why we're above .500 at the halfway mark. I really hope you're not in agreement to trade Lowry for an aging Gasol. Quality PGs are hard to acquire and they also take time mature and adjust to the NBA. I say we keep Lowry because any player who plays his heart out for Houston is well worth it.
I don't understand people when they say he might of peaked, i mean he's 25!! he's not gonna beak body wise until at least 29 and i think he proved that his new and improved game isn't a fluke. He's only been a little inconsistent because of the schedule. A player who plays that hard every other night is bound to get physically exhausted, doesn't mean he's going to start declining though i mean did wade fall off when he was 25 because of how hard he played? no, he did get injured but thats a different story.
I agree pretty much. Right now is a good time to sell if it means you can get a star and/or attract other stars. The only reason I'd be reluctant to part with Lowry is because he gives you solid production at an affordable rate.
All jokes aside, Lowry's value is probably at an all-time high. He has youth, all-star level impact, no glaring holes in his game, health, upside, and the one of the best contracts in the league. It is amazing that he is the key trade piece that other teams want in a Gasol (top 15) or Chris Paul (top 5) type deal. I personally think that the scenario Daryl is secretly hoping for is: Orlando decides not to move Dwight and take the gamble. Nets panic. Morey offers Lowry, Scola, NY pick for D Wil
If we could get a promise by DWill to at least pick up his player option, it is worth it. But honestly, why would Deron agree to stay here? Sure it is a decent team but: a) He is not contending b) He isn't playing alongside a superstar c) He is not in a top 5 media market
