lucky as hell we won that bengals game. other than that, they have mismanaged everything. have learned NOTHING about yates these past 4 games. i knew this would happen. don't let him throw downfield a single time, then panic and wonder if he's the guy. how did they not see this coming? would have almost been better off losing the bengals game, getting replaced by delhomme, then winning a couple of the remaining games. guy hasn't broken 20 points since starting. not saying that's his fault, but those are the facts. apoligies. i'm drunk, pissed, and rambling.
Laughable. There is no way even a QB of Brees, Rodgers or Brady's caliber could come in and be effective with one game left in the regular season. Yates is not the problem..... He hasn't even had a chance to become one.
well, your first sentence is the ramblings of an insane person. as for your 2nd, i agree: yates isn't directly the problem...the fact that the coaching staff scales down the playbook to nothing but play-action roll outs, screens and dump offs because he is the qb is.
Why would you think a guy like Favre could come and start playing the role of hero? No time to get in game shape...no time to learn the system...no time to develop chemistry with our receivers. Look how poorly he played last year in an offense he knew. I'd much rather see what Delhome or Garcia can do if Yates is the problem.
If you honestly think bringing in a new QB for week 17 is a fair idea, you should refrain from posting in this forum for a long time. Yates wasn't the problem tonight, anyway. Kubiak and Jacoby Jones were much bigger culprits.
he isn't talking to me, son. I never said that. Watch that smart lip of yours. I advocated signing favre 3 weeks ago though, which would have been the right decision (if you care about having a shot at winning the super bowl). we aren't grooming yates to be our qb of the future. There was never any obligation or reason to anoint him our starter indefinitely. They should have attempted to get the best person for the job from the second leinart went down. They obviously don't believe that yates is that guy themselves since they don't let him throw downfield at all.
The worst thing that could have happened to T.J has happened... He learned the playbook and now is thinking to much... He was successful when he didnt know **** and played off instincts/athleticism... Now Knapp is probably telling him to "let the defense win for us and dont **** up"... Sure it sounds stupid, but when he seemed to not know ****, he was lights out... Now he checking down and making safe throws off the playactions and bootlegs... IMO, he's thinking too much.. He needs to play like he aint got **** to lose again... Throw it deep to Jacoby or Walter every once in a while... Scramble for 1st downs when its there... Gotta go back to the basics TJ... You dont know **** so play like it rookie....
TJ isn't allowed to audible. He simply is told to run the plays that are called, and he is doing that. Mostly it's two plays: Stretch run, Fake stretch - rollout and throw a short pass. Sooner or later, Kubiak needs to open up the playbook, allow a downfield pass, and he needs to let TJ audible if he clearly sees the play called will fail. Kubiak's lack of backbone, and injuries are the root cause of this debacle. We've scored LESS than 21 points for the past FIVE weeks. We were lucky to get 3 wins in the first three of those weeks based on the play of the defense. We won't likely win again scoring so few points.
It's going to come down to Kubiak opening up the playbook and TJ playing like he did against Carolina(throwing costly turnovers), or Kubiak being conservative and we lose in a close fought game. Either way we're going to lose, but I'd rather go down in a Yates turnoverfest than being too conservative.
TJ played well yesterday. The loss was not his fault. He threw for plenty of yards per attempt and had an 80% completion percentage.
No passing game is going to amount for **** with Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones as your receivers. Even Manning or Brady would struggle with this since secondaries can single cover everybody and bring the safeties into the box without worry. You MUST have a deep threat. That's why we better pray that Andre is really ready for the playoffs.
