I think we've seen enough from Morris, PatPat, Greg Smith, and even Cole Aldrich to assume that it's going to be pretty tough for Jones, Royce, or Donuts to crack the rotation, at least in the short term. Morris seems like the most logical candidate for self-implosion, but after tonight's performance he's certainly earned himself some more looks. Now that it looks like we're in it to win it this year, why not take the opportunity to send 1 or 2 of our rookies down to the D league for some seasoning? Certainly Royce, and maybe Donuts or Jones. Personally I'd send Donuts, much as I like to see him play. Jones just seems more NBA ready to me. There's a lot of clutter in our frontcourt, so it's going to be hard for these young guys to crack through, especially when the more seasoned players are playing hard - a characteristic that McHale clearly favors. These guys need playing time and real experience, and they're not going to get it at a position we're basically 6 players deep in.
Looks like we may need Machado and TJones soon. Douglas has been terrible so far. Morris had a breakout game but he probably plays better at the 3 than the 4.
When it is available I'd definitely send the following... Machado: Needs to work on his jump shot and playing defense. If he can get one of those to improve to average NBA level or above he'd probably be our backup point guard. White: Ironically the same as Machado, he needs work on offense and potentially defense if they move him to the SF position. Motiejunas: Doubtful he will get minutes the way the rotation is looking especially with Smith and potentially Jones in the mix, it would allow him to get used to the banging that he will need to solidify his moves and defense in the NBA.
