Wow, 19 pages already. It's absolutely hilarious that people are calling for Battier's head after one 2-point loss to the defending champs, in which Battier had the highest +/- on the team. I don't know what you guys saw, but I saw Battier sticking his hand in front of Kobe's eyes and making the him miss a lot of shots. Exactly what the team wants Battier to do. I'd bet he did Morey proud last night.

I saw a comment a few pages back that I decided to fact-check for fun:

Houston Rockets top five man units data from the 2009-2010 season.

There are twenty 5-man units there, sorted by minutes played. There is exactly one lineup there that starts with "Brooks-Martin-Ariza"...and it had a +/- of -18. It sucked, and only "won" 31.2% of the time it played.

Take a look at the 5-man units with a positive +/- there. Most of them have Battier in it. The unit with the highest winning percentage (which received the 6th highest minutes played) was Brooks-Martin-Battier-Scola-Hayes, which won 88% of the time it played.

It's time to move battier. He overstays his welcome. Should be done before the season start. Not a hater here.

I think we're all missing someone here.

    Trevor Ariza.

If we still had Ariza, we could have moved Shane to the bench and not lost any defense and gained a guy who can block some shots and get some steals for easy baskets.

And chucked up some wild threes when the team didn't want them and tried and horribly failed to dribble the ball, thereby turning it over, generally sucked and been hated by the rest of his teammates, leading to them purposely excluding his punk ass from the offense.

    Yup. Sounds like fun.

Thats what he was told to do by the coaching staff. to go out there and show what he can do and experiment and improve.

    what did you expect?

He wouldn't play that way on this team because of Brooks and Martin. As much as i like Battier, even you have to admit, if Trevor were there instead of Battier, we would have succeded in blowing them out.

That's because Ariza was worse than Battier with his erratic dribbling and chucking. Start Brooks-Martin-Budinger and I bet the win percentage won't be as bad as 31.2%. Simply put, Battier is getting old and Rockets need a shakeup at the SF position.

He would not have chucked as many shots yesterday because we actually have offensive weapons now. Was he chucking wild shots in LA? I didn't watch him much with the Lakers, but I bet not. He'd be the 5th offensive option in the starting lineup.

    Ariza > Battier

Monta Ellis is eating Battier alive -- he's 6-8 for 14 points, and he just posted up on Mr. Intangibles and manned him.

He's scoring at will on #31.

And I hear that Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh sucked ass last night in Boston. Really, are people really going to scrutinize Battier's every game? Players have bad games. That's reality. Make a judgment after analyzing his performance over a significant number of games.

Battier is a smart guy - he went to Duke, right? He should realize he don't have it no mo'. Time to hit the broadcasting booth or put on a suit and roam the sidelines. This basketball thing ain't workin' out so well for him.

(Or, per overwhelming demand of CF, he could enter politics. Insert requisite BO/Colin Powell joke here.)

Someone post an appropriately Photoshopped pic with the caption: Battier, this year's whipping boy.
