sigh, if we had Steve, this stuff wouldn't be happening. Can anyone imagine Me-Mac elbowing Amare last year for grandstanding? That guy had guts, played with passion and heart. MeMac takes 20+ shots a game, why the hell couldn't JVG let SF do that? I would have been ok with SF taking 20+ shots a game, cuz I know he gives a crap about winning. Who the hell knows with me-Mac and his lazy eye. What a crap-ass trade. Bring back SF
you have posted 3-4 times, and every single one of your post has been geared to discredit the situation or the person, and not once have you decided that in a BASKETBALL DISCUSSION FORUM, to pose a intelligent opposing view. this thread was started to discuss a basketball player, not to talk about what is going on in this forum, or what your opinion is of daddy, and what he likes to do. i would like to have a basketball disscussion with intelligent agreeing or opposing views about the topic at hand. if you want to talk about daddy, or what you think of this forum, start your own thread, and try to keep that **** there.
what else do u expect to see from yao? it is not like he is playing for the medal for his nation in the olympics. he takes no pride playing for rox, it is just his job. for how much he is paid i think he did a great job.
I am sure SF elbowing Amare was the reason why we were such winners last year And how can you or any person with ANY basketball knowledge compare SF to T-Mac head-to-head? It is really a non-argument that you would easily loose everytime... Now if you compared the combination of SF/Mobely as better than T-Mac/Howard then you might have an argument, because that was what the trade essentially was (regardless of other peripheral players in the trade) It is like comparing Kobe to Michael Redd: two different levels of players, one a superstar, the other an all-star. Same situation with SF/T-Mac. I used to love SF as well, and I felt bad when he was traded and it was hard for me to get used to the Rocks without Francis. But rational thinking tells me as individual talents, there really is hardly a comparison between the two players. While Francis played all-out every night, his upside and talent was clearly limited, and his B-Ball IQ was average at best. On the other hand, T-Mac does not even play close to all-out game-to-game, but is still clearly head-and-shoulders above Francis. T-Mac and Kobe are really two of a kind in the NBA, Francis is very good but is more similar to tens of other players in the league. I am sorry, but there just ain't no comparo here...
if i was in a room, and 20 chinese people and 4 black people waved at me, would i be racist to say that 20 chinese guys waved at me?? and what does the nba all star balloting prove?? did i say somewhere that only chinese people like yao?? i am white. i dont care if someone says that i am a white guy. if you think i am lesser of a person because i am white, then you are discriminating because of race. yet i see no race as superior, and in none of my posts did i say that because of race, that i was superior. and if you were to read posts written by americans about chinese culture, and knew they were not entirely correct because we didnt have enough expirience living in a chinese culture, would it be about race if you were to come to the conclusion that most of the americans on that board know very little about the chinese culture?? everyone needs to quit being so racially sensative and turning this into a racial debate. why not comment on the basketball post instead of looking for every reason to talk about something as stupid as this.
Shrug, you say this and it sounds good, but you're the guy who for some reason keeps having this issue tossed around whenevr you speak. As in the other thread, I haven't really gone near this topic. Why are you talking about racial superiority anyway? I dont see anything at all in this thread or other threads in the GARM that goes anywhere near this topic. This is what I mean, you don't want to talk about race, but then you start talking about racial issues which noone is even bothering discussing.
again, i didnt say that chinese people dont know basketball because their skin color is different. geographical location may make us different in the way we think and what act, but in no way did i even come close to saying that the color of your skin has to do with your knowledge on a subject. i wasnt making a representation of chinese fans in the world. i was making a representation of the chinese fans who are on espn.com. i really dont know why this became a debate about race to discredit my basketball opinion.
We lost last year because it was the second year the unit had started playing together. SF's elbow displayed his distaste for losing, and showed his heart and guts. he is a leader, period. How the hell is TMac supposed bball IQ higher than SFs when hes jacking up 25 shots a niight and hitting 40% of them? If he was smart, he'd realize he needs to stop shoting 3's and drive to the hoop once in a while. SF sacrificed his game for the team last year because he wanted badly to win no matter the cost to his stats. MeMac can score, whoop dee do, but he's nowhere close to the leader that SF is. Put it this way, if they were in the army, I can see guys taking a bullet for SF. SF was the true leader of this team, and now they don't have anyone at all to fill the void. Not MeMac, not Yao, not anyone.
I'm not discrediting your basketball opinion at all, I happen to agree with most of what you say. It's just that for whatever reason, your name has gotten attached to 2 or 3 racial debates recently, all of which were started because you chose to make a racial generalization of some sort. I havent made any personal attacks on you, I'm just pointing out some things which I feel by your language, you are overlooking.
he's not Garnet people, but he did enough to demand a double team in the second half. Lets get on Barry and Wesley for missing so many wide open jump shots !
then what are you talking about race for?? i said that "yao hater" was a term that chinese fans wore out on me on espn.com for criticising yao, and you started talking about race. you assumed that i was incorrect about saying that the majority of the posters i was talking about were chinese, and you decided that because you werent sure about it, that it must be racially motivated. if im not insulting a race of people by saying that i am superior to them because of the color of their skin, why must you make it a point to assume i dont know what nationality the posters i am talking about are, and take offense for calling a chinese guy a chinese guy, or an american an american. is it an insult to call someone from china, chinese?? i hope you are proud when someone calls you an american, but i probably would hate to see what **** you would try to start for someone calling you an american. way to take away from a totally legitimate original thread by starting a racial debate. i guess i had no right to defend myself after some ex-espn poster decided to retalliate by trying to pass the mistruth that i was biased. way to carry on his work.
What I said about the .00001 percent thing was that the majority of Chinese fans you meet on ESPN are a very limited number of the overall Chinese Fan base, I was NOT referring to them as a percentage of peoiple who criticized you. You said it was 90% Chinese who criticized you, and I took that as face value, I was merely once again stating something that I thought you overlooked. Again, there was no mention of racial superiority on this thread at all until you started telling me you didn't feel superior to any race, bringing me in essence to ask why defend an opinion noone has attacked? I'm sure you meant to say Chinese in one of the times you used "american". I didn't start the racial debate, you mentioned the Chinese thing, another poster named Cohen picked it up and ran with it, I'm merely adding my two cents worth
no, my name has gotten into 2 racial debates on back to back nights with YOU, because for some reason, you are very culturally sensative, and not only take offense, but mislabel it as "racism" when someone makes a comment on another race if they are not apart of that race. in no way could either the comments i made today, or yesterday have been misconstrued as a knock to the value of a person of another race, culture or belief whether they were correct or not, yet you felt it necessary to check things out. i commend you on your protection of racial integrity, and your policing of these message boards, and my threads for anything that admits to a chinese person being chinese. thank you for your hard work. you never can be too carefull.
As I recall, I avoided talking about it in the other thread when you made a generalization, and tried to use sarcasm to lighten up my response, a point which went over your head. I haven't made any angry remarks or disparaging comments about you, so I'm not sure why you think I'm the one who is getting emotional. Your threads talk about stuff like the CHinese culture is a humble culture, and anyone who mocked you on ESPN was Chinese. There's a diference between saying that and saying things like "you are Chinese because you come form China"
i dont think you are absolutely sure what i said. it has been archived, so i thought i would copy and past the exact quote that clearly shows that i was not generalizing chinese people. and in no way was i saying that the color of their skin played any part. the first sentence in your first reply said what were you incinuating by asking about me and race?? it had nothing to do with race. i commented on an obvious difference in CULTURE, and you ask about me and race. am i wrong to believe that chinese people are new to the game of basketball because it is new to their culture, and that i have read many posts that suggest this?? and am i wrong to call people from china chinese?? or am i wrong to call chinese american, chinese?? im not trying to offend anybody if im not perfectly pc, but i think all that racial sensitivity is crap and causes more heat than it solves. so why did you make this out to be about race?? are all meaningless mistakes this important to you?? so i called chinese people chinese. who cares?? why add your two cents in about this unless you are absolutely sure what the meaning is behind something?? if the majority of this thread is now a racial argument because several posters thought like you did, and decided to incinuate that there was racial motivation behind what i said, then you see how rumors get started and how guys like the second poster comes to believe i am a yao hater and biased because enough people create an illusion. i take offense when someone incinuates that i view people as unequal because of their race, yet unless someone takes the time to read this thread through, claims like the one you have made gives the idea that i am now racist, and i am having to defend myself for what started as a basketball post. if i were the people of this board, i would have directed these types of posts towards xenogears for bringing the kind of crap that goes on at espn.com, that i had hoped to avoid by coming here in search for some good basketball dicussionalists.
the only reason there is a difference is because you ASSUME that i am wrong when i said the majority of fans who started that "yao hater/francis lover" discredit, were chinese. you assume that im generalizing when you dont know if i am or not. i was not generalizing when i said that it was started by a majority of chinese posters who didnt like me dissagreeing with their absured comments about francis, and holding yao responsible for yao, and not blaming francis for yao. and the fact that i am cocky when it comes to my beliefs, and time has shown me correct about most of the things i said on that board, has added to a some of their dislike, and the rumor has purposly been spread to others to use as a crutch who want to discredit me. . i also used sarcasm to lighten my response yesterday. but the problem wasnt your tone, it was the mere mention of race today and yesterday. something as sensitive to some people as race, adds more rumors to be spread, and i dont like that one. its not going to stop me from posting what i want to post, because this isnt a problem with me, its a problem with those of you who try to turn it into a problem. when it comes down to it, i personally dont care what anyone here thinks of me, or my opinions, but i had hopes that when i wanted to have a good basketball discussion with some intelligent people, i could leave that extreme espn nonsense back there, and if i wanted to literally see the power of what people over their think of my opinion, i could go over there and kick the anthill.
Ugh. They have this thing now called email. I'm pretty sure that no one else cares about this conversation. Oops, there I go generalizing.
