Obama is delusional if he thinks living in Indonesia from ages 6-10 or taking a trip to Pakistan while he was in college makes him more qualified than JOHN MCCAIN on foreign policy matters. Unreal. Obama's ego and narcissism knows no limits. The reality is that he has NO foreign policy experience. He SHOULD HAVE been conducting oversight hearings on Nato's role in Afghanistan, but he has shirked that duty and instead focused on his race for the Dem nomination. So the one test he had, HE FAILED to lead. How does that reconcile, libs?

i think it is only fair if Obama or Hillary choose each other as VP... that would be a win/win for America.

Hillary would probably be better off being the Vice President, as would Obama... IMO neither are worthy of being President of our country, but both would be great Vice Presidents.

you insulted obama, you do it all the time. you are averse to anything that ruffles the status quo, which we can all agree is inequitable. obama wants to CHANGE that. you like being privelaged at the expense of others. i find that insulting.

It is a fact that Obama has held no oversight hearings on NATO's role in Afghanistan. He harps on our military taking their eye off the ball in Afghanistan. Well guess what, Obama, in his one meaningful role in Congress as chairman of the subcommittee in charge of oversight of NATO, TOOK HIS EYE OFF THE BALL. He failed the ONE leadership test he has been given on Afghanistan. As a result, his foreign policy experience that he cites rings hollow. How can anyone defend that?

All that and his attitude of entitlement as Gov of NM. Having the State troopers turn on the lights so he can motor from ABQ to Santa Fe at 110 mph. There would be other stuff that comes out during the vetting process. He's also served on some interesting corporate boards and joined Kissinger's firm at one point

I have no idea... I just think the odds are good it will be a surprise along the lines of the Gore pick.

Still, since credit is involved, I'll go with a long shot that if it comes to pass should catapult me into a rich consultant position:

Gov. Togiola T.A. Tulafono of American Samoa

I'm going to break my personal rule here. You guys that take trader_jorge and bigtexx seriously need to stop replying to them. Their main purpose isn't intelligent discussion: It's to rile you people up and get you to respond. The tactic works too well. Countless threads have been hijacked by the back and forth drivel. When someone says something silly to them they pounce on it. When someone destroys their position, they disappear. You can't win.

Please give it a rest. When those two post, I automatically skip over it. Don't take the bait. When they start an ignorant thread, just let it die or let the noobs reply.

Just a suggestion because recently the political discussion in D&D has improved and it would be nice to keep it that way.

Only one Democrat like that in Congress: John Hall of New York. It'll also shore up the hippie-music lover demographic.

He's the chair of a subcommittee. The larger, full committee held multiple oversight hearings on Afghanistan. That's generally what happens with bigger issues like an Afghanistan or Iraq.

I would begrudgingly agree with that statement.

I absolutely cannot stand the Clintons any more. They will do whatever it takes to try and get the nomination, evidenced by the fact that she is still in the race even after it has been shown that it is mathematically impossible for her to get the lead back, even if they seat Florida and Michigan.

That being said, if someone could guarantee that Barrack Obama wins the white house, but only if she was VP I would accept it.

Here are some thoughts that invalidate your argument:

In fact, the Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing on Afghanistan on Jan. 31, 2008, and NATO was a part of the discussion. Obama attended a Democratic debate in California that day. Clinton is not on the committee.

The Clinton campaign put out a statement reiterating Clinton’s comments to reinforce the theme that Obama is more about talk than action.

“Given the opportunity to take the reins of leadership and shape two critical areas of U.S. foreign policy — Afghanistan and our alliances in Europe — Senator Obama has done next to nothing,” the statement said.

Obama’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

and of course the exchange at the debate:

“I also have heard Senator Obama refer continually to Afghanistan, and he references being on the Foreign Relations Committee,” Clinton said. “He chairs the Subcommittee on Europe. It has jurisdiction over NATO. NATO is critical to our mission in Afghanistan. He’s held not one substantive hearing to do oversight, to figure out what we can do to actually have a stronger presence with NATO in Afghanistan."

Obama responded: “Well, first of all, I became chairman of this committee at the beginning of this campaign, at the beginning of 2007. So it is true that we haven’t had oversight hearings on Afghanistan.”

There simply is no defending the fact that Obama dropped the ball in the ONE TEST of his military leadership. So he failed to lead, unite, oversee, you name it, he failed it.

I didn't think you'd be able to respond with any substance, pgabs.

Can ANYONE defend the fact that Obama has failed in his chance to lead on Afghanistan?

I agree as well. I detest Clinton and I think Obama is right that she represents an old way of political thinking and not the direction he wants to go in.

But on the other hand, if he truly is a uniter, if he truly is about bringing people together - he must recognize that there is a gap between the working class and him, and that Clinton, for all the negatives, connects to that group.

This isn't about Hillary, it's about folks in rural areas who don't feel Obama represents them and Hillary does. If hes truly a uniter, then he should be able to set aside what she's done and make her part of the ticket. She won't have any real power anyway, just sitting there for 8 years waiting her chance to run.
