I would honestly love to have CD sit back on the bench as assistant coach. I don't think he's doing a great job in the front office making all the personell decisions. I agree with it being time to dismantle the coaching staff but didn't we just give JVG another extension? I know alot of people here hate Phil Jax but if he can bring us a ring and help with the personell decisions to bring in the right players send some of our people out there to take care of it. I used to hate the man but right now I am willing to say let's get anyone who can help us win.
The go-forward plan should revolve around the true condition of T-Mac. If he's our equivalent of Jeff Bagwell, then you can no longer assume you have a 2 Superstar nucleus. He also becomes untradable and the T-Mac deal ends up being a nightmare for Houston fans. The ONLY thing you can do to materially improve your team in that case is to trade Yao. Ouch. Lets hope T-Mac is a fully recoverable asset. If he is, then I think what we've done puts us on track to create a high value team. We add a shooter or 2 during the offseason and we then have all the elements. The best thing is that by sitting still a bit, these guys can finally settle into roles. I like that both Strom and Raefer are improving as time goes on. This tells me that we have some upside in these guys that should not be discarded. Other guys like Wesley and Howard have maxxed out. You can move either or both to shore up your depth. Far from retooling, I think you should be hoping to solidify your assets this offseason and establish an identity for this team on both sides of the floor. It all rests on a couple of vertabrae essentially. If T-Mac is not recoverable then we are in a Grant Hill situation. There's really not much you can do to move this team off the block for a couple of years. Proabably you should switch coaches just to see if someone else can work with better with the scrubs than JVG.
I'm sorry you don't see it. I sorry you don't see that your ilk come out of the woodwork when we start to lose, when things look bleak, regardless of the cause. Then when we start winning again ya'll scurry away. Fact: this team was winning at a MUCH HIGHER than 50-66% clip when we were healthy, in fact it was close to 80%. Fact: you need to score more than the other team to win, not woo over your fans with your shooting prowess. Our 3's hurt us this year because JB was lost to injury, Wes has been forced to play out of position much of the year, and DA never recovered from his as hoped. So what? The nature of sports is that you can learn to compete with adversity... or bow down and whine. When it came down to it, this team shot slightly better % than what they allowed the opponents to shoot. Even though we fielded a severely crippled team, we were able to shoot better. Doesn't surprise me that you missed half of the winning equation...defense. Even with age slowing him down, Wes has been a critical factor to the success that this team has had this year, and when he gets to play his position and gets a little bench relief he has performed quite well. But as soon as he goes down w/ an injury some little folks here pounce on him. If you can't see how critical his role is to this team, you're blind. Poeple rip into Bowen. Why? The guy is serving a function, he's hustling in his role. When you cannot put the normal offensive threats out there his offensive limitations will be exagerrated. It's not his fault that TMac is injured. Now there's talk about whether TMac is a liability, and not long ago that venting was directed at Yao. Rafer was doling out 14 assists and now he suddenly sucks. Every player on this team has been ripped apart no matter how they respond in their role or whether injuries are the cause for their problems...or the team's problems. As for those who want to whine about CD, where were you at the start of the season? Did you know about the looming injuries that would incapacitate this team? Did you think Sura would never show? That DA would only show for a few moments? That JB would take a retiring blow? That TMac's back would get worse? That a toe would hobble Yao? That more injuries would take out yung'ns like Rafer? For those of you too young to recall, one of the best things about our championships were the young players, old layers and role players who shocked everyone by making a difference when it counted. But they would never had had the opportunity if the core of either of those teams had been decimated by injuries. Try to show some grace under adversity and support your team. The negativity sucks.
