i honestly dont have much of a problem with the jazz anymore. the mavs on the other hand i hatye with a passion. cant stand anything to do with that city. even the rangers.
Its a major part of being a sports fan of the home team. There will always be teams that are rivals and will forever hate. Jazz, Mavs and Lakers all belong in that category.
All the Jazz stuff here always seemed manufactured to me, like people were trying way too hard. Once it really got going, subsequent members figured hating the Jazz was the cool thing to do, and here we are.
The Jazz are trying to revolutionize basketball. That is, they're trying to flop their way through the playoffs. I guess they're not too off-base - it worked for San Antonio's more recent 'ship and Wade's Miami team. But as long as Malone and Boozer were on the team and Okur and Kirilienko are on the team, I have issues with them. This says nothing about the fans, which I deal with on a regular basis by living in Utah currently. This isn't to say I don't hate the Mavericks more...
Manufactured? Were you not around when the Jazz beat us twice in the 1st round by flopping and getting bs fouls called a few years ago? People hate the Mavs more than them? Why cause they beat us 5 years ago by waxing our *** in game 7? Before that have the Rockets EVER had heated series against the Mavs like they had against the Jazz?
Point for TheRealist! Tell me reading this doesn't piss you off again: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5719539.html
Agreed. For myself, an added component to all this is the history. How can you stop hating your arch nemesis? The Rockets-Jazz hate wasnt a product of one game or one series, but years of annoying Jazz play (as quoted above). I might not hate them with the same zeal, or as much as other teams today like say, the Lakers or Mavs, but thankfully I have space to hate all of them simultaneously and with varying degrees.

I'm not a Rockets fan, but I will always hate teh Jazz. That's a given. That said, it's great seeing CBrownFanClub post. '99 Represent.
i hate the jazz because of their fans and the dirty style of play and flopping that has been the norm under jerry sloan.
I'm guessing the over under on the age of anyone who will ever change the fact that they hate the jazz is right around 35. If you're older than that (and were a fan in the 90s, you will hate them, regardless how inconsequential they might get or now nice their uniforms might look. If you're younger, you might not (read that again for people who don't fit the model) MIGHT not get it and hang on to the fact that the Jazz will always be hated in Houston. But if you lived it and breathed it when it mattered, you will always hate them. Or ought to.
I will forever hate the county, city, region, and state where the Jazz are associated with. I dont wish them any ill will, but I hate their guts and I hope that team stays without a title forever.
I think this probably has a lot to do with how long you have been an NBA fan. Certainly most of the guys who remember these Jazz teams for the last 25 years still harbor a little hate for them. They have always been a team that drives you crazy because they normally have a few floppers, and defensively they are a very physical and sometimes dirty team regardless of who is on the roster. Sloan preaches no easy shots - they consistently are at the top of the league in fouling...plus Sloan has always been a bit of an old school a-hole. I like D-Will and Millsap as players but Sloan always keeps two or three dirty work/goon types on the court at the same time and that drives me crazy. I would say if you have only been watching the NBA since the tail end of the Stockton era then you probably missed out on a lot of the history of this franchise. I do think Utah is probably milder now than they have been in the past but I think that's just a reflection of the relative taming down of players in general since the league has cracked down on rough fouls....but rest assured if there was ever a white Ron Artest, Jerry Sloan would mortgage the team to get him.
The guy who made this thread must be like 15 or something. - Sloan, the father of 3 b*stard children .. Malone, Stockton, and Hornysack will forever be hated by anyone who is a real rocket fan. If you watched Hornsack ever shoot a FT then you have sipped on your vomit while watching him say hi to his kids by rubbing his face.. over and over and over. You would have seen the ambiguously gay duo Malone and Stockton (who invented the flop) shut the rockets out of the 3rd straight title with Barkely, and their new roster 3 years in a row against our recent team. It makes me sick, it should make you sick... and the sickness will never go away. this should remind you.
