I vote yes. I have three main reasons for this belief:

    1) Goran is constantly complimentary of the coaching staff and his teammates. He likes playing for the Rockets, so I bet he will stay if we match the highest bid for his services.

    2) Dragic may not want to return unless he gets to start. So it might come down to Dragic versus Lowry.
If you lose Goran Dragic, you get NOTHING!

If you lose (trade) Kyle Lowry, you'll definitely get back a solid piece, maybe even an all-star!

Getting back something > getting back nothing. No-brainer.

    3) Goran Dragic looks to be a budding all-star PG. Daryl Morey has been looking for an all-star for years. He won't let one walk away for nothing--he will pay the man, and Dragic will be a Rocket for the 2012-13 season.

What say you? Will Dragic be a Rocket next year?

Blazers will offer a contract we would never dare to match. Why? Because the Rockets management aren't known for overpaying players and we already have Lowry.

Enjoy the ride fellas, i know how much it sucks but it's out of our hands. The only chance we have is Gogi falling in love with Houston and somehow rejecting a big pay day.

I agree, unless the Rockets can trade Martin for something of fair value I don't see Morey paying him over $9 million per season. His playoff performance is good and it will raise what teams offer him assuming he plays well this season.

It's not about the money. Morey has outbidded teams before. He overpaid for Scola to keep him from going to New Jersey--and Scola was/is a finished product with no future upside.

    Morey will pay the man.

He is going to want to be a starter.

Going to have to ask if you would rather him walk for nothing or trade Lowry for another piece while keeping him.

You'd have to trade Lowry first and then offer Gogi, which is a huge risk since Gogi might walk anyways.

Teams are allowed to talk to and negotiate with their free agents before open free agency begins. We can definitely talk to Dragic and find out from him if he will stay under the assumption that he gets to start at PG.

If we lose out on Goran to tr Blazers then we should steal Linsanity back from The Knicks. Just saying.

No he won't be, it's a shame but how can he settle for a backup spot? Knicks, blazers, nets if they lose d will and even the mavs would offer him some big time $$$$$$

He will stay, but it definitely won't be as a backup. :)

I dont know how people are so quick to ditch Lowry, I love what gogi is doing, but Kyle, and his contract are both great for the rockets.

Kyle is a more streaky shooter than dragic but both are decent distributors, dragic is probably the better defender, but I'd never want to write Kyle off, he has the heart of a lion.

The question I have right now is how is Kevin going to deal with the starting role for the resto of the season, Kyle is entitled to think its his spot, but how can you justify benching a player who is playing at groans level

    I think Dragic WILL stay.

    Lowry will NOT be traded.

And hopefully we get can rid of K-Mart for something good.

He will be overpaid in the off season...it will be too much to pay a backup point guard. Sad but that is the most likely scenario.
