    1. Yao is doing very well for his 2nd season- 17/9 is great for a 5
    2. He is not Hakeem, he is Yao
    3. obviously he has the talent to be a 17/9 player now, but he is not ready to carry the team to the championship
    4. That will take improvements in: stamina, aggressiveness, strength/positioning and a few other little things.
    5. I like his chances of becoming a better NBA player.
    6. I would take him as my center any day
    7. We need to surround him with another legit #1 scorer

In other words leave Yao alone, he could have been a huge bust, he was a big risk at #1, he isn't and he won't be.

    So true!

If this is Yao's team, your role players'd better pass the damn ball. Juugie, tell that to your idol SF3.

I think the truth is Yao is NOT the bust his haters make him out to be. He's also NOT the next coming of Hakeem like the YOFs want him to be. The truth is somewhere in the middle. He has all the tools to be the best ever, it's just a matter of what he does with them.

Although I must say that some of the Yao haters are giving me NAIN (non alcohol induce nausea). They are never around until Yao has a bad game. Then poof they're everywhere. Yao is getting bashed by them left and right in his second year while they refuse to criticise Steve after obvious lousy games. Heaven forbid that fans should expect accountability.

    Juugie,You are well£_known yao-hard-core-hater(from 2002-2004 -2060?if u were still alive)
Hard-core-hater are always mad about going to bite ,even mad with Yao for losing their BALLs.They are arrogating to themselves the most interesting tasks:Let their balls make a blind landing in Yao's hand.Easy£¡it is just Basketball,it's not your balls in Yao¡®s grasp.
Your desire to do it blinded you to all the truth.

Your credit about Yao's improvement is good for only Zero as a result of your intense animosity for Yao and lack of the condition of being rational. If only yao play a great game, you are in the state of being away;even yao fouled out Shaq, you still keep on telling :Yao is just a role player in Rockets (and ever).SO, yao keep on improving, your animosity against yao keep on improving! ?Your ten-twenty-thirty is enough.
    The blind leading the blind.
Hope you value my advice,it may help revealing something of our players value fairly soon..

Juggie is holding SF to a super low standard. To him, SF is not the one to be blamed for his pathetic performance this year, JVG and the team are.

You obviously don't know what a troll Juggie has been.

You know...My idea of funny would be to see Juggie take this topic over to that other board where Yao is a god to those people..

Can you imagine the reaction over there?

    Pure comedy.:D

btw folks....you have all had your say to call Juggie an idiot...

can we let this thread die now?

    Please?

It's not funny!I can't believe the ¡°standard¡± of Juggie eyesight is good enough to count JVG's head as another lost ball.

    Just as I thought.

A lot of posts calling me dumb and a troll but none actually showing how Yao has proven worthy of breaking up a team and surrounding himself with role players.

No one refuting the fact that your Championship level big man should always find a way to contribute in every game. No one to refute the fact that Yao disappears for stretches of quarters and games.

Just call me names and ignore the truth.

Steve was totally responsible for how this team did up until the all star game last year. Ever since that time, Steve has been told to pull his game back, be more of a role player, and let Yao be the man. So, part of being the man is taking the blame.

If you don't want Yao taking blame then let him be a role player and let someone else be the focal point. You can't have it both ways.

These are not the only two options.

    The truth is:

    1) You are dumb and a troll.

    2) That does not mean one needs to break up the team.

I've said it before and will probably be saying it again.

This is a team sport and there's plenty of blame to go around.

Has Yao lived up to his potential? Not yet and its yet to be seen if he will.

OTOH has Francis played consistently well? Not their either.

Has the rest of the team played consistently well? Definite no there.

Between Yao, Francis, Mobley, Jim Jackson, and Taylor any of those players have the talent to step it up when one or of the other players don't to keep the team going but we're not seeing that. If you look at most of the historically great teams that while they may have one or two great stars they had other players who could step it up to pick up the slack. Look at the 94-95 Rockets. How many times did Elie, Horry, Cassell and even Smith step it up when things were getting rough for Dream or Clyde.

Good teams have more ways to win than just one player.

It is actually considered ignorant to supress any opinions that are different from your own.

And if you lock a thread criticising Yao, you must lock the millions criticising Steve.

And if we let Steve be the man, and made Yao into a role player, people like you would bash Yao for not doing enough. You say the offense built around Yao is ugly, i'd hate to imagine watching an offense built around a scoring point guard that can't even shoot. Teams could just play zone and completely shut us down. I don't understand how you think an offense run through a scoring pg could do any better than we are currently doing in the west. After all, our record now is better than it has been in years. The steve/cat show has already failed 4 times, and two of those times were before the zone was even implemented.
