    No, not the end :)

Totally agree. The problem is good defenses know what we are going to do and we are incapable of adjusting either in the press box or on the field. In CU's case, it wasn't even like they had that good defense last year. NU, Oregon and UT had already put up well over 30 on them. Now when you play a great defense, like what OU has had for 3 years and Miami (which we havn't had the good fortune of playing)--if you don't get a little creative you are just not going to move the ball.

I doubt there are many pro QBs who did not excell a audibling college-level sophisticated offenses. Successful pro QBs also must be able to check off to a 3rd or 4th receiver, let alone have difficulty checking off to the 2nd one.

I had high hopes for CS this year I really did. But he doesn't play like a senior or 2nd year starter. I was really hoping his weaknesses from last year could be addressed, but maybe no matter how hard he tried he could not. The leadership and mental approach to the game just isn't there--again maybe these are things he can't do anything about, you cannot be a great college QB with just a rocket arm even if it is accurate. He lacks the most critical element for a QB--field sense. It is a shame, because he has the arm, is a nice guy, and may even have the heart and will--but he just doesn't have the reactions and instincts to be an outstanding QB at the college level.

Nothing personal, but I am ready for CS to graduate. I hope we "graduate" Davis too. But I will say they are not the only problems. After all Mack Brown is the head coach. The special teams were not prepared, and the defense was out of position on many of the key plays after stopage, and committed one of the most inexcusable 4th down off sides plays (even after a timeout) I have ever seen. The whole coaching staff got whooped.

Maybe VY is able to improvise and thus make the offense have the unpredictablity it needs (what Vick did for VT), but you can't count on these guys to come along every two years. You have to have the system in place where you can be extremely successful, maybe even compete for NCs-- with your Doug Johnson's, Gino Torreta's, Tee Martin's & Major Applewhite's.

One final thing: it really bothers me Mack Brown acts more like a politician than a football coach. In addition to the excuses in the press that are annoyances at best, team deflating at worst--his steadfast stubborness (overprotection in fathers is understandable, at work it is not) in not at least rotating Major in games last year when the offense was stagnent (why not show a different look, if Major was struggling and how have a Simms on the sidelines a reasonable person would try that swtich too, and he did so in years past), not taking a shot at a free 7 points at the end of last week's games because of his fear of bad stats inflation, and not holding Davis accountable for offensive predictability--has lead to fewer oppertunnities to win games.

Coaching is ALL about winning games, I guess except to Mack Brown. I am not ready to give up on him (it would be great if he only was a smybollic coach, and brought in new bright aggressive guys to actually run things from Summar until January), but in a couple of years I might. And I agree with KR, Bellotti is a great coach. To be able to recruit as well as he has at Oregon (imagine the potential at OU let alone UT) and always have his team so prepared is impressive.

Here's a pro Simms slant. Well, maybe not. Allegedly, Major changed every play in the huddle against UW. Pro-Simms in that Greg Davis does indeed suck. Anti-Simms in that he couldn't/didn't audiblize and they call a conservative game to protect him.

What now guys? 9--3 and 10-2 just isn't good enough for me. Is that wrong? Change at the top?

I knew this game was lost when it was 21-21. There are maybe 3 players that start for Tech that would be on UT's two deep.
