Some of you guys are just amazing. We should dump Yao now and start our rebuilding process???!!!! We should give up on our team because it's going to be a rough time??!! It's just my opinion (but I'm right and the rest of you guys are wrong ), but I agree with the (sane) people on this board that say we have a much better supporting cast this year than last year. We're not going to excell, but if we win some (I'm hoping for 1/2) of the games until our superstars come back we'll be in OK shape. Yao will be out for a while, but T-Mac can come back at any time and will help us along. As for JVG - I don't think he's the best coach out there, but I think he's a long way from the worst. And he's who's at the helm of our team right now. The most telling thing for me was how he ripped into our team right after Yao went down and we let one slip away (yes, I said slip away). He declaired that we have enough to compete and he will not let the loss of Yao and T-Mac be an excuse for our not winning. I dig that. And once our players start believing it we will be good. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm out of my perscription of vallium and need another one before my buzz wears off Later players.
A study has been done in other thread that these people who want to do a team rebuild at this point of time, and these people who are panicking, are also big fans of Houston Comets.
I'd like to see if Rox can stay competitive and win enough games to hang around even without Yao. To me, it is the true test to the quality of the coach. Rick Carlisle did that two years ago. He lost his No 1, No. 2, No. 3 player all together for certain period of time and still made the playoffs and even advanced to the second round!!! Let us see what JVG can do this time. If Rox can't even manage to hang around without Yao, then this team is not a contender anyway and the brass should seriously consider the future of JVG this offseason.
Mr. Van Gundy has no contract for next season. If the Rockets are not deep into the second round (6 or 7 games), there is no excuse for giving him a new deal.
Wade has a **** team in miami without Shaq, worse than us actually, yet they were able to blow out the lakers? Talking about the lakers, they were just fine without Kobe Bryant in their lineup and that lineup is horrible. Drop the we need tmac and yao together crap. Also the record with both of them may be high but it is decieving. We havnt beat a single good team, not a single, with both of them in the lineup. Same case last year.
The best defense is good offense, especially when playing with SUNs. Good offense means opponents have to play more half court offense instead of fast break. Rigid offense is why Rockets always have trouble with Suns.
JVG's defensive system is great but we still can't win games when we limit the oppenent to 35% shooting. I doubt he can all of sudden improve his offense coaching. He is what he is. Rick Adelman for coach of Rockets.
