No, Gundy is keeping him on the bench. We're also 27th in the league in scoring. I do think the injury cost him a year of his career. That hurts, bottom line.
Thank you Nuff said, We picked E.G. the very next year, before the injury, when our need was clearly small forward, and we traded a small forward to get E.G.
Not really. He was a great fit. Great for a drive-and-dish team. Zone wasn't legal then. The Rockets had to trade KT because of Griffin, not Mo. Griffin was the unproven one, the one that needed the p.t. They already knew what Mo could do.
He shouldn't be fired because he saved me money in the Rice for Amaechi trade with Utah. He saved me even more money since we don't have to sign those 1st rounders we traded with Rice. Double $$ Cha-ching. Les
Whatever man. You really believe that KT wouldn't be here if we could get rid of Mo Taylor's contract. The truth is we didn't have enough minutes to go around once KT came back from his injury. Anybody could predict some sort of friction regarding minutes. EG was "UNTOUCHABLE" and Mo Taylor was and is "Un-tradable". That is why KT was traded.
Trading KT had nothing to do with minutes, either Griffin's or Taylor's. They knew he'd ask for enough money to push them well into Luxury Tax land and they weren't willing to pay it. So, they traded for a guy they hoped wouldn't command as much money. They lost him too, but KT wouldn't have stayed a Rocket through this last offseason anyway.
Neither one of us know the real reason. But, both were factors in the decision. But I tell you what, if we traded Mo we would of been able to resign KT. That's why I disagree with you.
CD has mess up the team. His drafts sucked! The contracts he signed really sucked!! and now he let EG go for nothing!! We should have traded him at the beginning of the year when he had some value and get at least a decent backup pg! Fire him and get somebody that can manage money and players!
FOR THE RECORD!!! People, please NEVER give CD credit for Cassell, Horry or any players drafted before he was GM. Patterson drafted those guys before Les bought the team and fired his a$$. He also was not responsible for the Glide deal. CD became GM in 1996, and I think that it goes without saying that we have pretty much sucked since about 1998.
The fire dump or trade Tywebb link is not working. I tried it about a 100 times and it doesn't allow me to vote. What do I have to do to vote more than once.
Don't forget CD passing on Rashard Lewis. The rationalization at the time was that CD didn't want to take a risk on a high schooler. Instead, he took a risk on some Euro that hasn't played a single basketball game on the North American continent. Plus, the draft that should have been used to select Rashard was the last of two or three picks in the first round that year. What kind of risk would that have been? Extremely low, in my opinion. Instead, CD takes a much greater risk on a player with one year of college experience, just a couple drafts later. Trading away all three first rounders on, what I would term, an equally minimal track record was as risky as it gets. Does this demonstrate CD's willingness to increase risk level over the period between the time he passed on Rashard and drafting EG? Or does it actually explain his bad decision making during the draft Rashard was in? One final point, we wouldn't even be talking about Eddie Griffin right now, unless we were Nets fans, if CD had done the right thing and drafted Rashard. Rashard plays a much better 3 or 4 than EG ever will.
Crediting the Rockets with drafting Yao is like crediting the Cavs for draftiing Lebron or the Spurs with drafting Duncan or the Nuggets for drafting Anthony. Yes maybe a moron could have done worse, but anyone just right of a moron would have done the same thing. The Rockets have been very unimpressive since 1996. It has a whole lot more to do with luck than being good as why the Rockets have a bright future. CD isn't the worst in the league, but nor has he been very good or even great as some Rocket homers seem to make him out. Trading KT and a draft pick for Posey than losing Posey for an MLE (probably all we would have had to match to keep KT if we never pull that trade) was not particularly bright. Given it seems like we (or at least Charles Barkley) knew Griffin's personal life could be an issue make losing KT look even worse.
Personnel choices were turned over to Rudy prior to the '92 draft, and his first pick was Horry. Patterson had been pathetic prior to that (John Turner, Dave Jamerson, etc.).
