    So I think we can say that the conservative-liberal dichotomy is a load of crap, no? That it is actually possible to disagree with, say, both Pelosi and Boehner?

    Well, it's more than political belief isn't always tied to personality traits. It is in a lot of cases, but not always.

    70% conservative. I think the failure of the test for me is that it measures a social conservatism -- where I would count as conservative -- and makes no distinction for economic conservatism where I swing far in the other direction.

    It also gives the impression that the test is actually binary and it doesn't matter if you slightly or strongly prefer dogs to cats.

    Agreed. I got 89% Liberal, but when it comes to economic policy, I'm for a hands off approach. However, I agree that I'm more liberal. Frankly, I find social conservatism to be disgusting -- we'll look back in 50 years and laugh about how ridiculous it was.
