Tim, also got another question. Is Reebok going to make those alternative grey jerseys for any of the other players like Griffin, Francis, and Mobley? I bought the Yao jersey a few weeks back and wondered of the other players will get the same treatment. BTW, the grey ones look like below: From an Ebay Auction
BTW, if anybody has a pic of the Francis Red jerseys they sold last year, please post, I am trying to prove a friend that they do exist. Thanks in advance.
In a few years, when the Rockets have another logo, people will try to find retro gear with today's logo....
Do you really think so? That would be scary..........but since it will have been the first jersey that Yao wore as a NBA player, you might have a point. Heck, an original Yao jersey might be worth something in 10 years. I just hope the new uni's are classy, relatively understated, and Les drops those god-awful pin strips!
hen you havent looked very hard... there are at least 2 other guys with higher counts.. HP and Jeff possibly more, Im not sure, I dont really look very hard..
Actually i bet those pin stripes will be the most sought after articles especially with kids who will have grown up watching them. I personally have the 80's jerseys and caps at home. They are not particularly attractive, i don't even wear them, but i like to pull them out of the closet once in a while and look at them. It's called Nostalgia....
I'll try to cover all of these in one go ... Reebok doesn't choose the uniform design, but they have been giving us advice on the design, and they will produce it. (They produce the uniforms for every team in the league starting this season.) We're designing the uniforms, we're doing it with fan input -- but we aren't going to do a "drawing contest." Live and learn, right? The blue sleeveless Reebok benchwarmer may be up on nba.com by now ... if not, keep checking. Reebok is adding to their sales inventory regularly. Something that will look right on a baseball cap has been one of our major acid tests -- if it doesn't work well on a cap, your icon isn't simple enough. Doctor Robert is right on the money with that point. The silver Yao jersey is part of Reebok's "alt-NBA" line. They're doing one non-standard jersey for each team. I don't have any word yet on whether they plan to introduce versions with other players, but I'll check. Tim
Hmmm...so is this a confirmation that the organization is indeed changing the logo and not just the jerseys?
Well, most everyone I know can't stand the pinstripes, so if the Rockets are using fan input, the pinstripes are as good as gone...couldn't be any happier. The logo is OK as long as the stupid face is taken off the Rocket
Jeff, Clutch Crew, or anyone else- Do any of you know how the Rockets are accepting fan input on the new logo and jerseys? Is there an address/website that we can send our thoughts to? Thanks.
That's what I had hoped all along, but I had never seen anything about the logos...just the jerseys. Either way, I'm happy.
If, for whatever reason, the same logo is kept, where are the different versions? What I mean is, I haven't seen a different color scheme of the current logo, not the jersey, yet. Does anyone or can anyone create a different color scheme for the current logo?
No, just confirmation that it is under consideration. Pro sports teams always have primary and secondary logos that work together -- we do need something that works better in a small, simplified format like a hat, but that could potentially come from the primary or the secondary. Tim
