Honestly, Insurance...You never know what might happen but dont get me wrong I used these players names only because I started the thread and Wallace was meantioned in another...If you're ok going to battle with what we have thats cool but I am not so sure I am. I started the offseason by saying be cool and Morey will make a big move but the more and more I read between the lines the less I think that will happen.
thanks for the knowledge. Well I hope to not suck as a poster so I can eventually have new thread privileges. I really wanted to start off with a bang with the most awesome 6 team trade proposal in a new thread but I guess that is a pipedream. Actually I will go ahead and post it here. If you guys think it is a good/balanced trade idea post it wherever you think it might get some more attention. It is actually a combination of various other rumored trade ideas. 6 team trade Problems I noticed in my own trade proposal • Not a fan of Jason Richardson or Earl Watson but they both end up on the Rockets. • Portland is giving up a lot of young talent in the trade and I’m not sure how motivated they would be to do so. • I know a lot of Canadians from Toronto and they all LOVE Chris Bosh. Trading him would be a hard thing to do even for what they are getting but I think this trade makes Toronto better. • Oklahoma City essentially takes on an extra 7 million dollars in salary for a future draft pick. • Does Phoenix like the trade with Golden State better than this one? Is that one still on the table? • If Philadelphia does not want to do a sign and trade with Portland then that part of the deal can be saved for later without affecting the trade as a whole. Houston Rockets Houston Gets(41.96): Chris Bosh(15.78), Nick Collison(6.25), Jason Richardson(13.33) and Earl Watson(6.6) Houston Loses(39.30): Tracy McGrady(22.84), Shane Battier(6.94), Brian Cook (3.50), Kyle Lowry (2.03), Chuck Hayes(1.93), Brent Barry (2.06), Jermaine Taylor (draft rights) and our 2010 and 2011 First Round Picks(lottery protected) Toronto Raptors Toronto Gets(24.15): Amare Stoudemire(16.38), Leandro Barbosa(6.60), and Rudy Fernandez(1.17) Toronto Loses (20.33): Chris Bosh(15.78), Marcus Banks (4.55) and DeMar DeRozan(draft rights) Portland Trailblazers Portland Gets(12.97?): Andre Miller(4.00?), Shane Battier(6.94), Kyle Lowry(2.03), Jermaine Taylor (draft rights) and Houston’s 2010 First Round Pick (Lottery Protected) Portland Loses(10.91): Travis Outlaw(3.60), Rudy Fernandez(1.17), Jerryd Bayless(2.14) and Steve Blake (4.0) Phoenix Suns Phoenix Gets(21.06): Jerryd Bayless(2.14), Travis Outlaw(3.60), DeMar DeRozan(draft rights), Marcus Banks(4.55), Chucky Atkins(3.48), Chuck Hayes(1.93), Brent Barry (2.06) and Damien Wilkins (3.30) Phoenix Loses(36.31): Amare Stoudemire(16.38), Leandro Barbosa(6.60) and Jason Richardson(13.33) Oklahoma City Thunder Oklahoma City Gets(26.34): Tracy McGrady (22.84), Brian Cook(3.50) and Houston’s 2011 First Round Pick (Lottery Protected) Oklahoma City Loses (19.63): Chucky Atkins(3.48), Nick Collison(6.25), Earl Watson(6.60) and Damien Wilkins (3.30) Philadelphia 76ers Philadelphia Gets(4.00): Steve Blake (4.00) Philadelphia Loses(4.00?): Andre Miller (4.00?) TRADE RECAP AND LINEUPS Houston Rockets Obviously they get significantly better in this trade and keep our young guys but more importantly the Rockets get Chris Bosh onto their team so signing him long term would be easier. He would also now be on a team that has a good chance to win combined with him being from Texas would make Bosh resigning even more likely. I’m not the biggest fan of Earl Watson as our backup PG or Jason Richardson at SG but we get Chris Bosh onto our team and our frontcourt is awesome with the addition of Nick Collison as our backup C. If Yao ends up coming back we will have the best frontcourt in the NBA. I think this team will make the playoffs in the West for sure but a few extra genius Morey roster moves next season will be the answer to take us to the top. **I bolded the lineups every other person so it would be easy to see 1st, 2nd and 3rd team. PG – Aaron Brooks, Earl Watson SG – Jason Richardson , Von Wafer SF – Trevor Ariza, Chase Budinger, James White PF – Luis Scola, Carl Landry, Joey Dorsey C – Chris Bosh, Nick Collison Toronto Raptors They do not lose Chris Bosh for nothing and even if Amare decides not to stay with the team, the Raptors have gained pieces in Leandro Barbosa and Rudy Fernandez that are not only very good players but also continue the international flavor of the Raptors team. If Amare stays or not, the Raptors manage to have a very good team this year that could compete in the East. PG – Jose Calderon, Jarrett Jack, Roko Ukic, Quincy Douby SG – Leandro Barbosa, Rudy Fernandez, Antoine Wright SF – Hedo Turkoglu, Devean George PF – Amare Stoudemire, Reggie Evans, Nathan Jawai C – Andrea Bargnani, Patrick O’Bryant Portland Trailblazers This move gives them the defensive stopper and veteran leader they have been looking for in Shane Battier. They are slightly mortgaging the future but this move would prepare them to go for all the marbles this year before they have to start resigning their star players to longer and bigger money contracts next year. They will also maintain enough cap space to still sign a good back up PF (Paul Millsap). The sign and trade of Steve Blake for Andre Miller is included because larger trades means easier to make the money work. This Portland team would be ready for the best of the West. PG – Andre Miller, Kyle Lowry SG – Brandon Roy, Martell Webster, Jermaine Taylor SF – Shane Battier , Nicolas Batum PF – Lamarcus Aldridge, Paul Millsap C – Greg Oden, Joel Pryzbilla Phoenix Suns Phoenix is looking to shed a lot of money this year because their team is in dire financial straits. Phoenix picks up talented young players in Bayless, Outlaw and DeRozan but more importantly, they shed around 15 million dollars for this year and an additional 10.75 million next year (14.4 million if they choose not to retain Outlaw an unrestricted free agent). Obviously the other teams are taking advantage of Phoenix but they are getting cheap talent(Bayless, DeRozan, and Outlaw) in return for big money players. Also, I think Phoenix would have a 15 million dollar trade exception for Amare Stoudemire. Could come in handy some day. PG – Steve Nash, Jerryd Bayless, Goran Dragic, Marcus Banks SG – DeMar DeRozan, Brent Barry, Sasha Pavlovic, Chucky Atkins SF – Grant Hill, Travis Outlaw, Alando Tucker, Damien Wilkins PF – Channing Frye, Earl Clark, Louis Amundson C – Robin Lopez, Chuck Hayes Oklahoma City Thunder At first glance it looks like the Thunder are getting nothing out of this deal and is just doing Phoenix a huge favor by using its left over capspace to make this trade a financial windfall for the Suns. Oklahoma City realizes that there is not a lot of incentive for Phoenix to do this trade without that financial windfall. Why do the Thunder care? Because the Thunder own Phoenix’s unprotected first round pick in 2010 and if the Suns complete this trade they look to have one of the worst records in the NBA this season and probably a high first round pick in the upcoming draft. The Thunder no doubt would like to add a Post prospects such as Derrick Favors, Ed Davis and/or Cole Aldrich to their already extremely young and talent laden team. Plus when McGrady comes back from injury he can play minutes off the bench and help coach up the young Thunder team before he leaves via free agency the next season. They also get rid of Nick Collison’s contract for next year and free up playing time for the young guys like Ibaka and White to get more minutes. Ridiculous amount of young talent on this team. I am jealous. Also they will have a ridiculous amount of cap space after next year with the loss of McGrady and or Brian Cook. I am a huge fan of good young teams especially when those teams include former Longhorns. PG – Russell Westbrook, Shaun Livingston SG – Thabo Sefolosha, James Harden, Tracy McGrady SF – Kevin Durant, Kyle Weaver PF – Jeff Green, DJ White, Brian Cook C – Nenad Krstic, BJ Mullens, Serge Ibaka So what do you guys think?
lol quoted for truth, i never knew Tim Thomas had any d-bone in his body. I still think Aldridge is the best prospect for us "so far"
Ok so you're cool going to battle with the NBA with this lineup Scola/Young Center Landry/Hayes/Dorsey Battier/Barry/Buddinger Ariza/Taylor/White Brooks/Lowry/ If you do like I said thats cool but darn I would like something else with a little vetern presence.
Yeah, and what I'm getting at is who cares if they are younger if they are signed to one year deals. Sure, Dorsey is younger, but can the guy play in the nba? If he proves he belongs, play him, if not why bother, not like he'll be on the roster in 2010.
I am comfortable letting the young players play and develop. I want the team to win, if its as a result of development/maturation for our younger, core players. I don't care about any additional wins we may get by signing a 1-year rental who's not part of our future plans. If I thought we had a chance of making a deep playoff push, sure, but I don't.
And what if the youngsters simply aren't NBA material? Who are all of these young "core players" that will have their PT cut? Is 10 minutes a night from the likes of a Ben Wallace really gonna stunt your team's development/maturation process?
I wouldnt mind that lineup but rather than have veteran presence, I, as would Morey probably too, would like to bring height to the C position. But if we so happen to start the season with that, well so be it. I know we arent going to contend but I feel confident that Morey will add a true C before the offseason ends.
We have yet to find out if Dorsey can play in the NBA but we'll find that out come preseason. And I'd like to say, he probably will be on the roster this upcoming season.
Alright then lets do it...I am expecting Morey to make move to aquire a center but just my thought...I think he will go for a vetern presence over a young developing guy simply because we already have Dorsey and yes he does need to be developed at least on offense. Someone meantion Gooden, never been a fan but hey whats left.
There is a fundamental difference between my "crazy" trade and those you linked too. All the teams involved in my trade have a large incentive to do the trade.
I'm surprised a certain Tim Thomas lover hasn't thrown in their "this is the most logical move the Rockets should make now" 2 cents. I'd rather give minutes to the young guys personally and let them learn. I already know what TT is all about.
For the mimimum at 1 year? Maybe, but he's not worth anything more We have a packed roster though. We need are to make more moves, we need to make more trades where we shed2 or 3 players to acquire one in return.
