Being black and being gay are not nearly the same thing and its a total slap in the face to even compare it.
oooh... you do not want to go there my friend. Very very touchy subject. The argument I heard in a philosophy class I took a couple of years ago was that they can't help being black, AND that people can see they're black. On the other hand, people don't know a gay person (guess they never hear dof gaydar =P) unless the gay person specifically tells them.
the only guys who feel "threatened" by gays are ones who fear that they might be able somehow, to be turned gay, which means that somewhere deep down inside you there are some gay tendencies that are being forcefully repressed. dont be afraid to let your flag fly hotballa!
Hold on. Me personally could say that. But if I'm a person of his stature I won't say that. I don't have the type of celebrity status he does to be facing controversy from the media. There's too many women in the world for another man to look the other way. Same goes for lesbians. God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. Also, he said "Be fruitful and multiply". In order to multiply you need a man and a woman. Two men/women can't multiply. Gays are destined to burn. They did in Sodom http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodom_and_Gomorrah How can we be promoting gays in front our kids but we censor booty shaking on BET. I'd rather my kid watch some p*rn before he watches "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy".
You'd be shocked. Tons of pro-atheletes and rappers in particular are. Some have 100+ pairs. They have magazines devoted just to collecting sneakers. I've seen a show on espn that runs randomly where they interview celebrities and their shoe collections. The kind where you need to go on eBay and pay $1k for a pair or something ridiculous. I assume there's got to be at least one person here that is a serious shoe collector.
great point! i never thought of that before, but it would really work as a psychological tactic upon your oponent. i think rodman might have been playing that angle - he is "savvy" like that. im sure he freaked out karla enough as it was.
The funny thing about talking behind a computer screen is that you never know who you're going to offend when you say something totally stupid, because you don't know them.
Or maybe the media makes many people "cowards" on this subject. Do you realize the irony of this statement? Look, I know that I am not going to win any friends around here with what I am about to say but this is a topic that has always bothered me and for the most part, I just keep my mouth shut. However, as a parent of a small child, I am disturbed to read things like "gay couples really want to have children". Yes, I know that the fact that a gay couple having a child doesn't harm me but how am I to explain to my daughter who is only 7 why a baby has 2 dads or 2 moms?? I mean, come on, that's not normal. What people want to do with their personal lives is their business as long as it doesn't affect me or my family. But you better damn believe I am going to do something when it does affect my family and my child being in a class with another child that has 2 "dads" or 2 "moms" is an example of that. Why should my daughter think that isn't unusual - just because gay people have this desperate need for their lifestyle to be confirmed by those who aren't gay to be normal?? Sorry, not happening - at least with me. And I know 2 men who I believed had homosexual tendencies; they were born with it. But they fought against it and are both happily married with wives and kids. It is a tendency, IMO, like alcoholism. My father's father died from alcoholism. I have little doubt that my dad would become an alcoholic if he allowed it, but he knew how devestating it would be to our family if he did allow that to happen. So, he fought it. Having homosexuals in a family where the majority of the family is heterosexual is devestating as well. Yet, instead of trying to fight it - people with homosexual tendencies are being programmed (by the media) to say it is okay. You see this with the gay pride parades and stuff like that. Funny, how there are no alcoholic pride parades. There is a guy who works down the hall from me that I strongly suspect to be gay. I get along with him fine and speak to him every day, but I am not going to go out of my way to hang out with him after work. If he was fired simply because the company suspected he was gay and that was the only reason, then that is not right. He knows that talking about that lifestyle doesn't bring anything useful to his job so he leaves it out. And that is the way it should be - don't ask, don't tell. What people do on their own time is their decision, but when it starts to filter into those people's lives that don't want anything to do with it, that is when I have a problem with it. Go ahead and flame me
I didn't and still don't agree with your opinions. I have been proven wrong on many occassions and I owned up to it. I left because we had both gotten way overboard with our animosity towards each other. Your last post was evidence of it as much as any. I take some responsibility for it because I played a hand in escalating the tension. Was I "proven wrong"? No. Was my reaction to you wrong? Yes I think I should have taken a step back and not let things develop to the point where you felt you had to call me a moron 5 or 6 times in one post. I think it would be best if you took my earlier suggestion and let things go. You have your opinion, I have mine, so let's leave it at that.
Well honey you're gonna be burning in Hell with them, so I suggest you get comfortable. You know what they say about passing judgement...
I was a bartender in the Village many years ago, while going to college, and unlike now (in my middle-aged decrepitude), I was pretty good looking, if I can be forgiven saying that. Being a bartender in that neighborhood, I was hit on more than once by gay fellows. I always found it amusing and wasn't in the least "threatened" by it, being comfortable in my heterosexuality. If you are secure in your own sexual orientation, why be insulted? I took it as a compliment. They are human beings attempting to make their way in this world, surrounded by bigots and those afraid, somewhere deep within themselves, of what their own sexual orientation might be. This thread exhibits the bigotry they face as clearly as anything could. Bigotry is wrong, whether it is aimed at race, creed, or sexual orientation. Women face bigotry because of their sex. They aren't paid as much as men for the same job, as an example. How foolish this all is! You have people equating homosexuality with pedofiles, as if perversion was associated with sexual orientation. It is not. Perversion is associated with perversion. The man, or woman, who preys on children is the lowest form of excrement. Whether they are gay or not doesn't enter into it. Kudos to those that brought up the history of sexual mores in the Greco-Roman world. Those who make these flat statements of "fact" about how people view these things simply don't know their history. And kudos to the Crew for allowing this thread in this forum. It has been fascinating, if disturbing, reading. A nice change from the usual fare.
Wow. You can't be serious...Queer Eye is an entertaining show. Just because there's a show featuring gay people it's 'promoting gays?' Are you scared that they are trying to lure you into homosexuality? And you'd rather have your kids watch p*rn? So hardcore, degrading sex for money between two straight people is a better lesson for kids than a gay couple who care for each other?
I didn't judge him. I just took his own view and threw it back. I dunno, I just thought I'd point out the faulty logic in the arguement.
i never said you have to agree with my opinions. the problem, as i have already stated, is your continual denial of facts and your continuing arguing aginst them. just be a man and admit you were wrong. i have no animosity towards anyone on an internet message board. i have fun on here. even arguing with you. you obviously take things way to personally. actually, you were proven wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt on multiple occasions and despite being shown the factual evidence to the contrary, continued to argue against it. i call them as i see them. again, if you are going to go around starting arguments with people than dont get upset when they respond. and i had let it go, but for some perverse reason you felt the need to call me out by name in this thread so i felt compelled to respond. and you are welcome to your opinion, but you are not welcome to ignore and deny the facts.
I didn't state that as fact -- that's just my perception/opinion based on the tendency of African Americans to be more socially/morally conservative than other ethnic groups.
I know what it's like to not be normal. I am left handed. I will look around and see 50 people writing with their right and I am writing with my left. It can be disconcerting. Now you say it's not a big deal but in the past societies have been very prejudiced against left handed people. I was born left handed. I don't have left handed tendicies. People are born gay. From: Wikipedia There are many colloquial terms used to refer to a left-handed person. Some are just slang or jargon words, while others may be offensive either in context or in origin. In more technical contexts, 'sinistral' may be used in place of 'left-handed' and 'sinistrality' in place of 'left-handedness'. Both of these technical terms derive from sinister, a Latin word meaning 'left'[12]. ntil the latter part of the twentieth century, Roman Catholic nuns in United States elementary schools would punish children for using their left hand to write, typically by slapping their left hand with a ruler if they attempted to pick up a pen with it. [citation needed] As late as the early 20th century, school teachers in the Netherlands would force right-handed writing (thus, ambidexterity) on left-handed writing children. An example of such treatment involves baseball players Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth, who both hit and threw left-handed and wrote right-handed after enduring left-handed suppression during their formative years. [citation needed] Left-handedness was often interpreted as a sign of Satanic influence, and thus prohibited. Many examples can be found in the Christian-Greek scriptures in which the wicked or evil sit at the left hand of God, while the righteous sit at the right hand of God, during the Last Judgment. The Inuit also believed that every left-handed person was a sorcerer. [citation needed] The Romans also frowned upon left-handedness. A left-handed boy who was training to be in a Roman legion would have his hand bound to his side, and would be forced to use the gladius with his right hand. This was done out of necessity, as a left-handed Roman would have interfered with the cohesion of the Roman legions. The use of left hand was also frowned upon in Asia. Allegedly, though there were few examples of its happening, a Japanese man could once divorce his wife if he discovered that she was left-handed. [citation needed] Until very recently, in Chinese societies, left-handed people were strongly encouraged to switch to being right-handed. However, this may be in part because, while Latin characters are equally easy to write with either hand, it is more difficult to write legible Chinese characters with the left hand. The prescribed direction of writing each line of a Chinese character is designed for the movements of the right hand, and some shapes tend to feel awkward to follow with the left hand's fingers. It results in a less soft writing than it would be with the right hand. In many parts of the world, such as Indonesia, it is considered impolite to eat and accept gifts with the left hand. The reason for this is that a person who uses his left hand to eat would often cause trouble with the person to the left of him. Another stated reason for this is that the left hand is used in some countries, like Indonesia, during a bathroom visit. A profound Arab stigma against left-handedness dates to a pre-industrial period when paper was extremely rare and (in desert regions) water was too precious to be used for hand-washing. Because it was necessary to use one hand for wiping oneself after defecation, and because it was impossible to cleanse this hand thoroughly, the hand used for this task (traditionally, the left hand) was deemed unfit to be used for any other activity, especially as most Arabs of that time lacked eating utensils, and so they ate with their fingers (of the right hand) from communal dishes, while keeping the left hand entirely concealed at mealtime. To this day, it is widely regarded as taboo in Arab culture to handle food with the left hand. Offering one's left hand for a handshake greeting, or even waving it in greeting without touching, would be considered a serious personal insult in Arab society. Somewhat left-handers are also persecuted in the Arab World due to this taboo.
Dude, you're not normal. In fact, I'm pretty sure you're a sin against nature. Your ignorance is abnormal and I don't approve of your lifestyle. Personally, I think you're going to hell and I'd discriminate against you if I had the chance. How'd that feel?
