lol. I think it's easier for guys to hate on gays because it's more "threatening" to us in that it directly affects us more. I don't know about females and their feelings on lesbians.

It isn't about showing the world so much as it's about being honest about who they are. How would you feel if you had to pretend that you're gay? If you risked being shunned if you admitted you were romantically and sexually attracted to members of the opposite sex? You'd prefer they live a lie? It's not the fault of people like John Amaechi that the media and people like you and I make it a big deal that he's gay. Ideally, he'd be openly gay and nobody would make any bigger deal about that than they do that somebody is openly heterosexual.

Somebody needs to review their history. Homosexuality hasn't always been a shunned lifestyle. It was widely accepted for thousands of years. It's only been in the past 2000 or so years that it's really fallen out of favor. For instance, it was common place and perfectly acceptable in pre-Christian Roman and Greek civilizations. It wasn't until the modern religions took hold that any of that changed.

That's just nonsense in my opinion. There are gay players in the locker room right now. Just because they aren't openly gay doesn't change the fact that they are gay. Are there problems in the locker room now? Are players being raped? Are players being sexually harassed? No. There is no problem there. Why should that change because some players reveal their true sexual preference? Honestly, do you truly believe you've never been naked in the presence of a gay man before? Highly unlikely. And guess what, you're none the worse off for it. Get over it.

Look at the history of our country. It tends to be filled with hate. The Irish, the Native Americans, African Americans, Catholics, women and I could probably come up with more have all been targets of hate for many years in this country at one point or another. In a country where hate, bigotry, and flat ignorance influences our laws, practices and beliefs why is it so unfathomable that he could hate an entire group of people? I learned early on that here no matter what the status quo wants you to believe there will always be somebody that hates you and everyone like you for the simpliest reasons.

Come on, every NBA player has a child. That doesn't mean anything. I was more interested in the shoe store. What kind of straight guy has that much of an interest in shoes?

I heard on a radio show thatw as discussing the DL and "homo thugs" that a lot of these men on the DL don't consider themselves gay or even bi.

So every action or behavior that is not engaged in by a majority of the population is "wrong"?

I want to know why. Where did I say that I couldn't believe anyone could be hateful?

I want people to explain their hatred.

    Dear BrieflyThinking:

You're right, everything that is not normal should be feared, hated, and discriminated against.

    Sincerely,
    Everything that is interesting

And thats the problem. They don't see them selves as gay so they don't see a problem. Basically if you like sleeping with men and you're a man then at least you're bi. People seem to forget that the highest rates of AIDS are still in the homosexual community so you put your wife at risk for a disease she normally wouldn't have to deal with.

I have lesbian friends and I don't really care. It doesn't bother me at all because I'm secure enough in my own sexuality to not get all freaked out about it. But I do hate when lesbians hit on me. They're more persistant than desperate guys.

Ah. I see. People usually hate what they fear or don't understand. Still that no excuse for hating people and I don't understand how you can hate an entire group of people but then I'm a bit more tolerant than most people.

I only hate spiders because they terrify me. Does that count?

You seem to think you're proposing something shocking. I'd have no problem with that whatsoever. Actually, when I lived in Barcelona Spain (and yes, gay marriage is legal in Spain) it was common to see gay couples walking down the streets hand in hand and even kissing. And do you know what? Nobody thought it was a big deal.

I'd also like to add that I'd have more reservations about my kids seeing your grammar. Sheesh.

I find it highly ironic that the african-american community in particular is against the gay community. Is it just me, or does it seem odd that a group of people that had their rights trampled on for so long would want to stifle the rights of another group?

But certain religions claim that there are no gay people, rather there are only poeple who engage in homosexual actions.

Yes he is. But when you put your opinion out there for the world to hear, people will have an opinion about your opinion.

just be a man and admit you were wrong.

if you are going to start arguments with people and than ignore the facts and continue to argue against them than dont get upset when people call you on it.

To bring this back on topic (and away from this moving to D&D), let's discuss how an openly gay current NBA player would impact the game. We all know David Stern would never ban someone from the NBA for comming out.

    Example 1
    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Itu6BeKEi8Y"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Itu6BeKEi8Y" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

For arguement sake, let's say Evans comes out. Would you bother boxing out this guy if there's "incidental" contact (grabbing your ass)? Wouldn't someone like this on your team be an advantage to play mind games with the other teams star?

You could clearly get alot of players ejected and still play within the games rules. While a mental strong player could probably block out the fact that he's getting molested on the court, his entourage would never let him hear the end of it.
