Oh god, thanks for bringing up Rodman, I almost forgot - he's amazing. How is he not mentioned as the first NBA athlete to come out? I guess he is not gay, but doesn't he admit some homosexual behavior in his books? I thought he did, I have not read them, I can't quite remember if he did nor not. I thought he had. He made it with Madonna, I think that counts (Sam Cassell?!?!?).

Rodman is / was a disaster, no doubt, but how hilarious was it when he got Frank Brickowski thrown out of an NBA Finals game by whispering gay come-ons to him in the post? Dude, that was a whole new level. Actually using homophobia as a defensive tactic? That's like some weird combination of progressive evil / genius that I am not sophisticated enough to analyze or even understand. I don't even know if it is horrible or incredibly enlightened.

I left because I'm not used to the intensity of emotions that you displayed. I'm trying to let the situation cool off and I let you have the last word on it. If the way I expressed my opinions angered you, I am sorry and am trying to re-evaluate how I express those opinions to others. In the meantime, I think it would be best for you, me and everyone else if we just let it go for now. Noone needs to see the name calling in that thread and the level of immaturity displayed in there at the end.

That I have a problem with. I could care less if you wanna have sex with another man. That is fine, but don't lie to me and put my life in danger just because your pansy as* can't admit you have homosexual urges. Being on the DL is completly diffrent because then you are hurting someone, putting them at risk and basically just being a selfish jerk.

Also, it make sense that a lot of black male celebrities are accused of being down low. Rumors involong black male celebrities usually include being criminals or cheating on their wives. The whole DL thing just makes it more interesting.

yes I remember an article in Vibe or Source that talked about the dangers that the married DL men were exposing their wives to. I think the article overall was focused on the rising number of African-American women with HIV.

Right now African American women have to highest and most rapidly increasing number of new HIV/AIDS cases because of DL men. As a black woman, I think that totally sucks because if I married you then I very obviously trust you to protect and take care of me not give me AIDS cuz you can't make up your mind. It's so much worse because not only has your trust been violated but you've been exposed to a potentially fatal disease by the one man who's not suppossed to lie to you.

I'd much rather my husband just tell me he might be gay and try to address the situation accordingly than to trust my husband wholeheartedly and then go get my annual check only to discover I have AIDS because my husband isn't a real man. And by real man I mean he can't tell the truth. I'd much rather him just be gay. To me it takes a lot more guts to be a gay man than to be a DL man and honestly I'd be more inclined to not go to prison if he told me the truth.

I hate gays too, but if I'm someone of his status I won't go around saying that to the media. He's right and honest in everything else he said though.

He was being truthful and yes, I know he apologized, but it's how he really feels...He admitted he was homophobic and I bet this just emphasizes why a lot of current gay athletes don't come out...

Hold on...I think we've left out one important topic in this discussion...Everybody is OK with lesbians, right??

Oh BTW, tinman!! I don't think Sam Cassell has ever been married. He also owned a shoe store with Mario Elie...hmmmm, makes you wonder...

Says who? You? Are you the moral compass for this country? Is Jerry Falwell? Pat Buchanan? Ann Coulter?

If so, I'm out of here. The ability to hate is the most disgusting ability known to man. That's what these people preach. Homosexuality has no affect on any person other than those that are homosexual. They are not responsible for the downfall of morals in this country. Only the ability to hate is.

I'm not going to try and change your mind. I have no interest in that. I just can't fathom what someone must have told you as a child to make you hate a group of people that have had absolutely no affect on your life.

Interesting. A lot of posts seem to suggest that What Tim Hardaway said ( his choice of words)was wrong- not that they dont agree with him in content.

Bigotry is sinful. Closet Bigotry is more than that. Unfortunately that is reality.
