How did ginobili choke? Hes a freakin bench player who played 23 minutes and he got 13pts--he did his job--SJAX is the one who choked. Parker choked, Rose and Drob choked....Bowen and Manu did their job and so did Duncan.
You really think it was luck? I don't know how you came to that conclusion. and it was a 4 point win...not 3.
What does Kobe have to fear? When at home, all he has to do is beat his man off the dribble and jump into the reigning mvp, for the automatic foul call. It doesnt even matter anymore whether tim touches him. It doesnt matter whether malik rose blocks his shot. it doesnt matter whether he charges over a defender, and finds george for a wide open 3. He's Kobe, he knows he will get the call every time. And if he doesnt get the call? shaq will just bulldoze in for the rebound and dunk. That is why kobe is fearless. he is the most protected, pampered player in the league. while shaq stands idely by, the idiotic LA fans chant mvp for kobe? please. He can pick up his fourth foul halfway through the third quarter, and he becomes invincible. This is why it's so incredibly hard to beat the lakers in LA. They're homecourt advantage is like no other. When was the last time anyone beat them in LA in a meaningful playoff game? Shaq can just get the ball and try to dunk on robinson, who doesnt even resist. he just stands there with his hands up. Shaq happens to miss the dunk, spurs get the rebound, and the refs call the very late foul on robinson, his sixth. You think the refs would give robinson a little more respect for what he has accomplished, but no, they treat him like a piece of garbage. has anyone else noticed that the refs only call shaq for a lane violation after he badly misses the freethrow? If the spurs go on to get incredible homecooking like they lakers have gotten, this series is definately going to 7 games. then, the homecourt advantage will convienently disappear in that last game in SA. I'd be more optimistic rooting against the lakers, but this series has already happened before. see last years western conference finals. bottom line, the spurs played good enough to get the win. Ginoboli, jackson, bowen all hit huge, clutch shots late in the game. its just hard to battle every possession and make shots, when all the lakers have to do is parade to the freethrow line for free points. How could anyone watch that entire game and say that duncan is not the mvp? that was one of the most incredible performances i have ever seen. he was 10-13 from the floor at one point, 16-20 from the line. He led his team to double digit leads, only to be slapped with bull**** fouls when the lakers got too far behind. he scores because of pure skill, not because of preferential treatment or brute strength. that one play was probably his only mistake of the entire game. duncan leads his team of young role players to the best record in the league, to a good position to contend for a title, and you claim that kobe is more valuble? No one even thought the spurs would be serious contenders this year. Kobe sits down for a stretch, and the lakers hardly miss a beat. Duncan sits down, and all hell breaks loose for the spurs. One last real annoying thing i noticed. what is up with ABC and the boatload of boob shots? every time the lakers make a shot, they cut to some fan in the front row showing off her implants. Doesnt such a great basketball game kind of sell itself? do they really need to show 50 bouncing pairs of boobs at every opportunity? will it help ratings by that much? its mothers day for gods sakes! Do the camermen really have to kneel down low for those upward shots of the humongous saline sacks?
Yes I did watch the first two games. And in those games Duncan got more favorable foul calls ALLOWING him to stay in the games longer. If you watched the game yesterday you will notice that when Duncan went out of the game in foul trouble that is when the Lakers made their runs. Duncan just being on the floor makes his teammates better. But when he is off the floor the team is like a chicken with their head cut off. Conversely, while the Spurs are deeper than the Lakers, they do have Shaq and Kobe so they at least have one dominant player on the floor at all times. This is huge for them. The Spurs need someone other than Duncan to step up. In game 2 it was Bruce Bowen's 27 points and all those 3ptrs. In game one it was Ginobili's hustle. Where is Tony Parker in this series? He should be dominating Derek Fisher!
Any time you bank in a 3 is luck, period. You really think Shaw aimed that shot at the backboard? The game was decided by 4 point only because they needed to foul at the end. Without Shaw's 3 points, the Spurs would have the ball at the end with the game tied.
If we're going to talk about lucky 3s, what about Willis' halfcourt runner? In a 5 pt game... They are both a wash.
Yeah, they stopped calling that lane violation after the Miller debacle in Houston. Shaq obviously leans forward every time he shot ft. The Spurs should protest it. Even though the refs might not listen, it will probably get into Shaq's head and disrupt his rhythm.
Didn't you know Willis was a great halfcourt shooter? BTW, if we're going to talk about lucky 3s, what about game 4 of last year's WCF? Walker got a 3 from halfcourt AFTER the buzzer and Horry got a lucky tip to him and hit that 3 at the end. Should we put an asterisk next to their championship?
Ya, why not... You could hypothetically put an asterisk on every NBA title, as luck always plays a role.
spurs definitely need jason kidd.. or better yet.. nick van exel.. that guy is not scared of anyone... or bobby jackson... spurs need a clutch player... someone who will just drive to the bucket and have no fear.. because tim duncan will be there to rebound the ball... i'm positive spurs are gonna blow the next two games... it's over.. lakers are champs again.. it's so depressing. LUCK TH FAKERS!!
the reason why they only call the lane violation if shaq misses is because that is what the rule is intended for. they didn't want wilt back in the day to deliberately throw the ball up and then rush in for an easy dunk, so they put that rule in. pointless to call it if he makes it, there's no advantage gained.
37 pts, 16 rebs, 4 asts, 2 blks, all while eliminating the 3 time defending champions. Yeah, he's playing like the Astros in the playoffs.
