Yeah, I was exaggerating for effect but I don't understand how

24, 17, 5.3, 5.2 and almost getting a quadruple double IN THE NBA FINALS is not dominant enough

Lets check in on LeBrons career when he is 32 or so and see what he does between now and then. Duncan is miles beyond Lebron in terms of career accomplishments. While I think LeBron has a chance to be that great, it isnt even close right now.

Well my point is why does the difference of 5 and 6 rings suddenly make you a better player than someone? You either are or aren't.

If you had an all-time draft, and you were choosing between Larry Bird and Tim Duncan, imagine you pick Larry Bird.. but then Tim Duncan wins another ring (6th) so are you saying "Oh dang I should have picked Duncan, he's better now"?

Duncan is 36 and about to get his 5th ring. Even though he's not the main guy on his team anymore, but he's still important. LeBron will probably be a bench scrub when he reaches that age. David Robinson is a better measuring stick for LeBron, a bunch of individual awards but not exactly a franchise player that leads his team to championships.

Duncan couldn't hold a candle upto King James...you ever hear anyone call Duncan King? Hell anyone Call MJ King? When the careers are said and done, MJ...Duncan will be bowing down to the greatest to touch a ball, Lebron James. Even with Rondo's greatest performance, lebron lead the way with 30-10-7 and it wasn't even his bsst game and is continuing to lead his team to a championship before MJ did(he will be younger htis year than MJ when mj won his first title).
He is richer, more marketable, more humble, and the most well rounded and skilled basketball player and athlete in the history of the game. If you guys haven't bowed ot hte king yet, youwill be soon

    Jopatmac was spot on.

NBA PF's have been a relatively weak crop, and because Duncan was drafted into a team that had D-Rob at the 5, he's been labelled a 4 through out his career. So if you want to put him at the 4, yeah, he's the greatest of all time because of his basketball IQ and longevity. Offensive dominance isn't so important if you find ways to win by involving teammates - look at Russell. He makes the big plays, hits plenty of clutch bank shots, and always gets the best out of his teammates.

But if you put him with other centers, than he doesn't come close to being the best. Solely because he doesn't have that mean, dominating streak that defined guys like Wilt, Shaq, Hakeem and KAJ in their primes, causing teams to completely change their game plans and still fail at stopping them. He's just a very, very nifty player. Kind of boring to talk about or take interest in, but I still appreciate a girl next door like Timmy D.

LeBron will probably end up better than Kobe and close to MJ when all is said and done. But in terms of bowing down, he won't come close to the fanatical following those two had in their primes. He just doesn't have the look and was born with the perfect body and game... unlike Kobe and Jordan, who worked and worked to mold their finesse games into winning basketball. It's the grace, swag and fearlessness of those 2 that drew so many people to them. Rich people, poor people, posh people, ghetto people... it was something they could be in awe of.

Whereas LBJ has a stronger body than anybody in the league, more talent, and a naturally high basketball IQ, but he doesn't relish the challenge like the other two. He's the type of guy to run away from confrontation then tweet some excuse about it. You don't see that desire to take over and win games each and every night like you do with the other two. Once in a while it happens as a fluke, but that alpha domineering personality and willing his side to victory is what you expect from a guy like him in a competitive sport.

It's hard to respect an underachiever like that.

I don't think MJ and KB supporters support them because of how they look

more because of talent, skills and hard work
this is just getting gayer by the minute

    Congrats on paraphrasing me.

Having the look matters. Why isn't Jesus depicted as a fat guy who waddles around? Why do Greek Gods always have very symmetrical features and small penises (it's due to sophistication stemming away from the animal instinct of just the body, to the civilized, sharp look of the face)? What did they say about Helen of Troy? Jordan and Kobe have it.

You directed it at Lebron. I think he has the perfect NBA body.... I don't care about what you think of it aesthetically.
Everyone in the NBA says he is the product of sheer strength and skills.
They do not look elegant at times but he gets the job done....

Maybe he does not appeal to metro-sexual fans but he is the embodiment of a strength player who possesses skills as well.
Well he can be more clutch though

He is not one of my favorite players but his playing style I would like on my favorite team.

Again, you're just paraphrasing what I said. Great NBA body (one of the best ever, up there with guys like Wilt), great talent, high IQ... but doesn't relish the challenge and the incessant desire to will his team to win at all costs. Qualities that Kobe and MJ embody, that come as a source of great inspiration for fans.

"The look" refers to facial features combined with aura. Where Kobe and MJ were smooth foxes, LeBron portrays a bratty 16 year old girl with a mean mug. In lieu of the general public feeling this way subconsciously, it's just not that inspiring.

What's baffling is that you'd think in a thread where the thread title is sarcastic, people would immediately think that some posts inside may not be totally serious. Although I'm surprised the usual Lebron nut-huggers haven't chimed in yet.

I was very seriously trolling when I made this thread title.

Anyways Spurs lost a game, I take it all back. Tim is a scrub!

Exactly why LeChoke is overrated. The poor king can't afford a ring and has to chase it on groupon.

Well, it depends. Did Lebron ever experience this from Ibaka?
