It never fails to amaze me why people put so much stock inwhat those yahoos over at ESPN think about things. they are just sports guys like you and me, they just happen to be lucky enought to watch and talk about it for a living. ust because they found some other reason to poke fun at the Rockets(like thats something new ) does not mean that it should be taken seriously. What is yall's deal with that? Who the hell cares what they think? I certainly dont. they are not fashion gurus or even basketball geniuses..they are just some guys. Get over it already.
if the rockets werent dumb enough in the first place to goto blue in 1996,then espn wouldnt make those comments. Think about it. If the rockets had ALWAYS stayed red like they should have, then people on espn wouldnt think we switched back to red just because of ming. Thats what ALOT of fans interpretation is outside of houston is that we went to red ONLY because of Ming. They seem to forget we had red back in 1995.
The uniforms are great, but the numbers ARE a bit too small. It seems like practically everyone agrees on this, except Tim.
I can identify any Rocket by the way they dribble, walk, shoot, and play defense (or lack of defense). So, I will never have a problem figuring out who is who. That being said, I have a hard time remember jersey numbers, and have no idea who's wearing what number with these new jerseys that have numbers this small....i mean, are the Rockets organization trying to drive away fans with bad eyesight or something? Whatever the case, even though Tim and most of the Rockets organization are seeing through Rockets colored glasses and probably cannot be objective, somebody should do something about it. It's no big deal for me, but I can see how many fans don't enjoy the number size.
But they're right about the unis. As I've said before, the unis are NICE but they do have an Asian look to them (not that there's anything wrong with that; unless of course if a certain 7'6"er decides to opt out next year)
Tim, maybe next time you could try burnt sienna and ochre. Or maybe salmon and cerulean blue. Or how about mauve and chartreuse?
WRONG! Tim & I like the small numbers on the front. It seems that the only post are by the people who dis like the change from traditional or simplistic uni designs. We have a great uniform. Quit nit-picking.
Tim, the diffrence with the number size last year and this year is not necessarily the SIZE but the FONT. The FONT last year was very THICK and beveled. It was strong. So the numbers stood out. The FONT this year is thinner and thus makes it more difficult to read. That is why the SIZE is not really the issue as much as the font thickness. Like I said, you could stay with the same font if you beefed up the font with a drop shadow or a stroke. Just an idea. But again, let me reiterate...the uniforms look GREAT! Love them! Love the return to red and love the uniform design in general.
Yep, they said it once again. Kinda pisses me off, I understand Steve Kerr making a comment, but SportsCenter says it like its suppose to look like the Chinese NT unis. Atleast the lady didn't say it, I don't like her. Whats her name, Linda Kohen?
???? I think that most like the simple design. We're just saying, make the numbers a *little* bigger. It's not like we dising the whole design...
I'll like the unis no matter what they say. It's just that they KEEP saying it every other night. Like it's "sooooooooo funny"... Sure, it got a chuckle from me at first. But night after night? What's up with that? I guess they taking a shot at Les for "trying to make a buck" off of the Chinese market. That's the only thing I can think of....
Hey dufus, what part of "practically" do you not understand. You think that just because you think the numbers are 'just right' that makes the statement ' practically everyone" WRONG! The nit-picking is not for style but for the function of readablility on television on the wide angle shot usually used during transition play. The players are moving and discerning who is where is a large part of enjoying the fast break action, so the comment is valid Practically everyone likes the new uni's, but I'll bet you a dollar to a donut the prototypes were not TV tested, just evaluated in person and close-up photos. ( A Kripsy Kreme iced crueller please)
I am not sure the reference to last year's jerseys is relevant here because the numbers on the old jerseys were not in the middle of the jersey in the front, they were up in the corner with the Rockets logo in the middle. Now, the numbers are in the middle and a focal point, and therefore, imo, must be larger and more readable. I'm not sure yet whether it's an issue of size or font, or both, but something needs to be done about the numbers to make them more visible.
