I figured the rain dance would be probably be in poor taste in case one of my neighbors whose house flooded were to be driving by at the time.

Naturally the goat was the next logical option.

Rain dances control the rain. You could have turned off the faucet over Houston's head.

Watching the press conference, there are some interesting business points in there.

    - he mentioned the team EBITDA of $40 to $70 million a year depending on the year. He specifically noted these things don't/shouldn't trade on EBTIDA multiples - no ****! - but in case curious, that's 31x-55x EBITDA. ;)
    - he mentioned when he lost out on the Rockets 24 years ago about some legal snafus. Not sure exactly what happened, but just a reiteration of how much it must suck that he lost out on purchasing the team for like $90 million, and now has hte pleasure of purchasing it for $2.2 billion
    - he did briefly note that it was a lesson (the legal holdup)
    - it's clear that it's been eating at him ... not necessarily the lost profit part, but the fact that he could have owned the Rockets these last 24 years
    - he also rightly mentioned sports teams don't tend to go down in value, so he's at least hedged there
    - he mentioned generational ownership multiple times
    - he mentioned his sons being involved in decision making ... yikes ??
    - he mentioned the purchase price multiple times
    - he mentioned cross-promotion multiple times
    - he said the word aggressive multiple times
    - he/they mentioned hockey multiple times
    - he mentioned it being part of the Landry's empire/ownership group multiple times

The take-aways to me are that his family really does love the Rockets, and it's probably a part of their fond memories as he raised his kids and now they're going to be involved... which honestly doesn't sound good but hopefully they're logical. He's an aggressive business man generally. He knows he paid a PRETTY STEEP price... fair, but expensive. He feels hedged on the downside, but also recognizes he needs to be aggressive to make it work as an investment. Which will / by defacto means hockey if he can get it at a price that makes sense (isn't steep). Which will mean changes for sure... perhaps and i suspect likely not on the court, not immediately and on the court maybe even for the better. Just changes in general as he looks for ways to make it work from a business perspective.

Yea, it's a little worrying that Tilman wants his sons involved in the decision making but at least he's in the same mindset as Morey in that this is a superstar league and we need a 3rd star.

Love the press conference. His attitude and love for Houston is so high. This guy hates to lose in anything he does. He likes top quality. Trust me he will make things look diff outside of just a winning team. This was the best thing to happen.

Ps - his trust in morey and company makes me feel good.

Tilman: The first change I'm making.... none of this run as one bull.
The Rockets' new motto is 'All-in'.
Just like how I bought this team.

That is how the press conference should have started.
